Default Camaro Slayed me tonight!!! :(

lol not really tonight I was driving and the 10 Camaro SS comes up by me playing around, so we where at about a 35mph roll when I was caught off guard by him mashing it about a car length infront of me! So I mashed it once I seen him take off I was playing catch up! But stayed 1 car length behind him until we saw blue lights had pulled someone else! But I think i could have caught him closed that 1 car length gap if I had some 3:73 gears? What do you guys think he has a manual so I know that is going to hurt my auto tranny! Arghh stupid auto! Anyway my question is could Ford put in the 3:73 gears I see you can get the manual done and still retain the warrenty but what about the auto? Would I loose my warrenty? Will a certified Ford mechanic do it and still warrenty my car?

Honestly, I think the guy in the camaro was playing with you. The SS manual puts out 423 hp vs your 315 hp 10 gt. If he wanted to he probably could have put 2-3 cars on you easy.

Do you have a tune to go with that intake? That and 4.10's possibly would make you look less shabby. Even 3.73's if you're currently running the granny 3.31's. But it would take more than that to stay with him and more to put him away.

True, but he's also carrying around almost 500 more pounds I think. Depending on gearing, I'd bet a 3.73 manual car could keep up with a Camaro. I've seen two on the road while I was in my Mustang, but never got in a position to race them.

Plus you have to take in to account the weight of the Camaro driver's mullet, flanel shirt, trucker hat, and case of Budweiser in the trunk! Thats got to slow them down too.

LOL @ 65Raven65!! Very funny!! Anyway we only run to about 100mph then had to stop. Radar detector was going nuts thanks goodness I slowed down!!! Sheww! So would the 3:73 gears void my warrenty and who is considered a Certified Ford Mechanic just any Ford Shop?

You do realize that with all that extra HP the camaro only manages to eek out like .2 seconds faster 0-60. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

If you want to begin slaying, forget about warranty. And yes, the FRPP 3.73's are as good as any others and it won't void your warranty if Ford installs them. Unfortunately, there have beena lot of stories where Ford has screwed things up. There are plenty of knowledgable shops that can do GOOD gear installs. Find one. And quit wussing out about the warranty.

I agree with nuke that maybe 4.10's and a good tune might be able to help keep up. Oh and its officially listed at 426 hp for the ss manual. (not that the extra 3 matters just listing what chevy says.) I also havent seen many of the mullet sporting, flanel shirt wearing owners around my neck of the woods and seeing the price tag on the new ss camaros, I doubt there will be many of them around until the car is 15 years old or so. While I am not advocating for chevy, I just dont think a stock, or nearly stock 10 GT has much of a chance against the new SS camaro.
