Default Ran an LT4 Vette

Last week on my way back to my apartment from my parents house a very nice looking silver C4 vette pulled out behind me on a single lane road. This road goes on for about 3 miles and has a few lights on it until it intersects with a 2 lane highway. All the way down the single lane road he was falling back then getting on it right up to my bumper so I knew he wanted to play. We finally reach the 2 lane road and I let the cars in front of me get a bit of distance so I can pull out with some flair, I pull out slow then stomp on it and kick the ass end out to let this guy know Im up for some fun myself. Unfortunatly theres a light not even 200 yards down the road and one of the cars that was in front of us didnt get through so he was behind me at the red light instead of in the next lane over, but we made it work anyways.

Light goes green and I get a nice launch, he's right on my ass all the way through first and hops into the next lane once we get past the other car. Through second he is inching up but not getting by me and we run shortly through third and he is at my rear bumper I hit the brakes around 75-80 and he flies by me. We get to the light and its an older guy and he yells out...

"We arent supposed to do that!" with a huge grin on his face

I ask him if its an LT1 or an L98 and he says neither its an LT4 which really suprised me, I figured he wouldve pulled on me much easier than he did. No doubt if we were lined up next to each other he probably wouldve pulled a car on me up to 80. It at least had an exhaust but it was really loud so that leads me to believe he probably at least had a midpipe as well if not full exhaust.

Definetly a suprising outcome and good race for the 4.6 2V that could

That is a surprise, those were rated at 330hp. Short run though, driver is much more of a factor.

It was definetly a suprise, the cars are similar in weight but he probably had at least a 30 hp advantage. He was definetly coming up on me though, no doubt he wouldve beaten me if it was side by side. If we went from a roll he wouldve walked me easy I bet. This isnt the first time Ive put up a crazy story on this site, the first week I got the car I ran side by side up to 90 with a carrera 4s from a 10-15 mph roll.

Thanks for the complment on the looks, shes one of those looks good from far but far from good cars so stay back 10-15 feet and she looks great.

You should be proud, I'd say you out drove the old man. I love how those 2Vs sound with the exhaust setup like yours. Shoulda got an o/r x pipe.

Nice kill! Sounds like the driver mod might have been part of the outcome.

You're thinking of the LT5... the LT4 was just heads, cam, and intake upgrades on the LT1 (simplifying things, check the link for all of the differences.).
http://www.grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm

Made similar numbers to LS1 cars (~300rwhp/~310rwtrq)
http://www.grandsportregistry.com/dyno.htm

Nicely done OP!!!

If it wasn't the GS theme colors my guess is it started life as an LT1 and had the LT4 hotcam package.
