The 370 is a totally different car, although the 07-08 350Z is still quick (as in a good run for a stock Mach). The older 350Z is pretty slow, so it really depends on which 350Z you compare the 370 too. The 370 is lighter, has more hp, a flatter tq curve, beater gearing, and a whole bunch of other stuff like automatically blipping the throttle/rev matching for you when you downshift, than any of the 350Zs. I think the 07-08 Z can stay right on a 370Z's ass, but its not going to be doing any passing. The older 350Z doesn't hold a candle to any Z past 2007.
i8acobra, did you dyno your 350 after doing those bolt-ons to verify the gains? 40rwhp sounds unrealistic for any 350z. Actually, 20rwhp sounds generous.

+1
the VQ was pretty squeezed for power right off of the assembly line... they are harder to get N/A power out of than a 2V modular
Yes I did dyno. 239 rwhp stock, 281 rwhp with mods.
I had a Borla cat-back
DC Sports headers
Ultimate Racing cats
UR underdrive pulleys
cooling mods (rad, t-stat, etc...)
APS upper plenum
polished lower plenum
AEM CAI
Turbo XS UTEC running in speed-density mode
JWT clutch and flywheel
Ran 13.7 @ 98 in Vegas (7000'+ DA) with a 30 mph headwind and dust all over the track. It was a really bad night. Stock S197 3V's run mid 14's here. I was running down intake/tune S197's at the track when all I had was the CAI. The one guy that beat me was on DR's and I was catching him on the top end of the track (3 mph quicker).

That grits comment makes me think about that guy from Mythbusters. He always says, something like, "I reject your reality, and substitute my own."
nah man, it needs to remind you my cousin vinny XD
Quote:
Vinny Gambini: Is it possible the 2 defendants...
[looks at judge]
Vinny Gambini: went into the Sac-O-Suds, picked 22 specific items off of the shelf, had the clerk take the money, make change, then leave. Then 2 different men, drive up...
[Seeing Mr. Tipton shake his head no]
Vinny Gambini: Don't shake your head I'm not finished yet. Wait until you hear the whole thing you can understand what it is that I'm askin'. Then, two different men drive up in a similar looking car, do into the store, shoot the clerk, rob him, then leave?
Mr. Tipton: No. They didn't have enough time.
Vinny Gambini: Why not? How long was they in the store for?
Mr. Tipton: 5 minutes.
Vinny Gambini: 5 minutes? How do you know? Did you look at your watch?
Mr. Tipton: No.
Vinny Gambini: Oh, oh, oh, you tesitfied earlier that you saw the boys go into the store, and you had just begun to cook your breakfast and you were just getting ready to eat when you heard the shot.
Mr. Tipton: That's right.
Vinny Gambini: So obviously it takes you 5 minutes to cook your breakfast.
Mr. Tipton: That's right.
Vinny Gambini: That's right, so you knew that. You remember what you had?
Mr. Tipton: Eggs and grits.
Vinny Gambini: Eggs and grits. I like grits, too. How do you cook your grits? Do you like them regular, creamy or al dente?
Mr. Tipton: Just regular I guess.
Vinny Gambini: Regular. Instant grits?
Mr. Tipton: No self respectin' Southerner uses instant grits. I take pride in my grits.
Vinny Gambini: So, Mr. Tipton, how could it take you 5 minutes to cook your grits when it takes the entire grit eating world 20 minutes?
Mr. Tipton: I don't know, I'm a fast cook I guess.
Vinny Gambini: I'm sorry I was all the way over here I couldn't hear you did you say you were a fast cook, that's it?
Mr. Tipton: Yeah.
Vinny Gambini: Are we to believe that boiling water soaks into a grit faster in your kitchen than anywhere else on the face of the earth?
Mr. Tipton: I don't know.
Vinny Gambini: Well, I guess the laws of physics cease to exist on top of your stove. Were these magic grits? Did you buy them from the same guy who sold Jack his beanstalk beans?
just substitute fast cook with fast driver, grits with a 350Z and cook time with 1/4 mile time and we have a winner
