I'm cruising down a four lane highway and I run up on this black new edge GT with a ragtop... as we continue we both turned onto another 4 lane highway and as the stang turned I got into the other lane, as I briskly pull up next to him out of the corner I hear he never shifted out of 1st and is trying to not let me pass him
so I stomp it, and his exhaust (flowmasters obviously, I can tell that drone a mile away) roars past 3,000RPM, by the time he shifted into 2nd I had a good car on him.... and he is still trying so I don't let out of it... up to 70ishMPH I had a good two cars before I had to break for traffic
now here is where I get a little mad... he merges on my ass and stays like 3 inches away from my bumper... then when traffic clears he slingshots past my car roaring away like it was supposed to mean something
obviously wasn't an even 3 honker but it gave me an idea that if it was I would have slowly pulled him anyways
as you guys may or may not know I raced my friends manual 2004 GT with the following mods
(O/R H, flowmasters, short shifter, CAI, tune)
from a 40 roll he put a 1/2 car on me to 120MPH... from a stop I get the launch and hold it till about 80MPH where he starts to come around my door, and from a 70MPH roll I start to walk him past triple digits (I had a 1/2 car on him 70-130ish MPH)
again, kind of happy with granny gold lol

saw a S/C'd LS not long ago...yea it was nice... >=p maybe this hint u towards doing it
Good run, Morbid. What does the aftermarket look like for granny? Does it respond to mods, etc?
no aftermarket at all actually.... there have been a few guys playing around with theirs
a CAI+tune net the guys low 14's... with a tad higher stall they have been seeing high 13's, one guy did the stall, LSD, CAI+tune combo with a 100 shot and has seen 12.8's and 12'9's as a best, but usually hovers around low 13's
the transmission in the cars are junk though
I'm sure a set of cams on the 3.9L DOHC might push the car into mid 13's with supporting mods and a set of good rubber with an LSD swapped in.... but IMO I just don't see the reason to spend mega dollars on 4 custom ground cams for a lincoln lol

You going to race that gold bitch? I wanna go to the track again sometime before the damn snow comes. :/
meh, it will always be a mid 14 second car I think.... I'll supercharge a harley before I sacrifice the drivability of the LS... I MIGHT pull a CAI+tune, might even swing a little 75 shot for fun if I can find a used ZEX kit for cheap, but other than that it won't be, nor has it ever been a blistering fast rocketship lol

There was a guy in the ot section that had a buddy with one....I am pretty sure he had a set of aftermarket cams for it (and a bunch of other crap), I don't remember how much hp he was making or what his times were though

I know with just a CAI+tune they like to show 240-255 WHP depending on how generous the dyno is
I'm sure with a set of good cams you might be able to see 280-290WHP, add a 100 shot to that with supporting mods, a stall and LSD and hope your transmission doesn't blow and you MAY have a low-mid 12 second 4 door 3.9L
all that is well and fine to say in theory... I know for sure I'm not going to do any of that noise, as far as with the stall and all of that
I MAY swap in an LSD, the 8.8 ford LSD barely fits in the jag pumpkin the lincoln has... so it's an easy swap
the only reason I will swap the LSD is for the snow.... with just one tire spinning the damned thing got stuck about 400 times last winter

I remember his car was turning some decent times, I just can't remember what they were
I was suprised when I read it, because I remember you saying that there isn't much of an aftermarket for them but he had a fair bit done to his
Maybe as they become cheaper and get into the hands of guys that are more likely to mod them, the aftermarket will improve. But I can see why you would leave yours stock-ish
