Even now, the STI still has a stronger transmission than the WRX.

The 09 WRX might be a LITTLE better than previous years but they are still pretty fragile.

I knew the STI trans was stonger, but I didn't realize the WRXs were so fragile. My buddy with an 06 STI was looking into getting a new STI trans and swapping it into his car because the 08+ STIs have a better geared trans. Having to be in 5th to go 100 mph sucks for a 6sp. My old 07 Si did it easily in 4th.

There's a pretty big difference between an '02-'05 Stage 2 WRX and an '06-'07 Stage 2 WRX as there's .5 liter difference. A 2.0 liter Stage 2 WRX is a little light in the loafers, but they can run 13.7 if driven by a good driver.
