So there I was, driving down the feeder road just minding my own business on my way home from work last night and a red G8 GXP pulls up along side of me. I hear them down shift and then they start pacing me. Then all of a sudden they open it up and tear off. I didn’t give chase. Then they sort of just fall back along side of me and down shift again. This time I oblige. We were going somewhere around 30 or so when we both hit it with the GXP was just a shade behind me. My front tires were at their front fender when we took off.
Well, we went up to about 110 or so before I shut down. My front tires were aligned with their drivers side door… so they pulled probably a half car in total. Well we got to the next light and the window rolls down and it’s a lady!! She’s probably mid-20s or so. She asks how much HP I have, I told her around 330 crank (just a guess really). She said she had gotten the GXP a few months ago and put it on the dyno recently and it put out 382hp at the wheels and that it was the 6spd and all stock. She turned left and I went straight… so unfortunately there was no dig race.
Impressions: that car sounds wicked even with stock exhaust and in the red it looks beautiful. I think had we gone much past 100 she would have pulled me pretty good.
So I guess it was a loss, but I was happy to hang on so well against the mighty LS3...

You can never have too much power, just not enough traction. 11.867 @ 119.35
382 rwhp seems a little high. Aren't they like 402 at the crank?
Either way you did a good job hanging with it.
You can't really believe GM's rated horsepower numbers though. Look at the LS1 Fbodies, for instance. Rated at 305, and a lot of them put down that at the wheels, bone stock. The LT1's were also rated at 275, and regularly put down mid-high 250's at the wheels stock, with some even making it up into the 260's.
