Default Two outta three ain't bad....

Attended a car show today - had all three Mustangs entered. Had a third driver, my husband's cousin with us. He has a Lincoln Mark VIII with a 32 valve... whatever... in it. I don't know the Lincoln line up, but its a nice engine. I let him drive my 06 GT when it was time to take him back to his own car. He got his foot in a time or two, liked it.

On the way into town, I saw him run up on my bumper, I slowed, he pulled up along side, and since no one had any kids with them and there was only one car anywhere near us... (behind us) wellllllllll

We ran three times from a roll, and the GT got him two out of three times by a car length. Both cars are pretty much bone stock. We hit 125 or so before shutting down and I have to say, that Lincoln has a respectable engine in it. It hung pretty close with my GT. he's a huge Mustang man, and wants to pull that engine and put it in one of his Mustangs, can't remember which, but its either a 93 hatchback or a 98 Cobra that's blown up...

I kept thinking: We. Are. Going. To go to jail! OMG... we are SO going to jail... But we didn't.

It WAS nice to run against someone that's an adult, not some 17 year old in high school with a ragged out Chevy 305 in a lowered late 80's/early 90's truck. THOSE kids have figured out the red GT, and that I'm game if they bait me enough. I've figured out I'm now a moving target. I don't even post about those here, I mop the floor with them (had FIVE CAR LENGTHS on one of the most notorious ones of the group yesterday morning before I let off of it) and stilllll they tell everyone, I'll GET HER NEXT TIME!

*Uh, dude, not in that clattering ragged out POS....*

well that 32 valve whatever is the 4v v8 that's in the 96-98 cobras. The cams are a little tweeked from the factory however, because they are only good for 285 bhp. I know people who use those alminum blocks for 4v builds, the engines can be really nasty with the right set of cams.

Nice. Those Mark VIII are cool, and the 97/98 LSC's are the best.

Yeah, that 32V whatever is a cobra in lincoln's clothes. Just an intake, a non forged crank, and a slight cam difference in em. I am doing a Mark VIII to GT swap currently, tell him that if he needs info, I am the guy.

It's pretty impressive that his lead sled managed to keep up with an 06 GT, those Mark's aint light. 3800+lbs to be exact.

JC, sounds like a cool swap. Not to get too off topic, but how hard do you think it's gunna be to have that thing wired up? I want a 4v fox so bad.

Its a 97 - and yeah, it could run. He said it was a Cobra engine, but yeah, there's the weight issue. I was really surprised - but also, on the keeping up, in my car's defense, when it comes to racing someone that knows what they're doing - I suck. I freely admit that. And I am really gun shy of getting busted by the po po's so I don't always let my car keep pulling. LOL Todd, however, knows what he's doing - my entire husband's father's side of the family reminds of me Life with Ricky Bobby, minus the NASCAR part. known for always having some sort of something or other that's hopped up and driving ridiculously fast.

And I have shoved him this way, to MustangForums. Dunno if he'll show up, but I told him it was a gold mine of information.

Thanks again guys... *G*

It's not that bad really, if you know what you are doing when it comes to mechanics. With a fox, you would have to get a computer and a wiring harness from either a 96-98 GT, or a 96-98 Cobra in order to make it run. I am doing a writeup on it, once I get mine running, I will post it.

Ignition is controlled by the computer via coil packs and sensors.
