Finally ditched the lame 2.73 gears; should have done this a long time ago
Earlier last month I took my car to the strip and was kinda disappointed in my 13.03 @ 107.7; read about it here. http://mustangforums.com/forum/stree...he-pulley.html
So after that day I swapped in a complete rear end from a 6-speed LS1 F-body, which comes with 3.42 gears. As expected I dropped about 2 tenths and picked up 2 mph (1 mph if you use corrected times), 12.76 @ 109.76 on a slightly spinning 1.92 60 ft. DA was 259 so the corrected time is pretty close to the actual time. It's still not as fast as my best time with the 2.73 gears and stock stall (12.72, mineshaft -1,367 DA) or my best with the 2.73 gears and 2800 stall (12.68, -6 DA) but hey, what can I expect with some mild bolt-ons and 183k miles. Pushing it into the lake will be postponed for a while.
I'm still a little concerend about the spinning though, I still have a stock converter and when I put the new rear in (new to me, it's a used one) I also put in relocation brackets for the lower control arms. I should be hooking up pretty well on hot Nitto drag radials.

Sounds like the gears were the ticket, good runs man. I wouldn't worry too much about the 60' times, I'm sure they'll come down when you get more used to the gears.

3.73's and a 3800 verter. Hello 1.6's and knock knock knocking on elevens door, yea yea yea yea....
I think that while I still have the 10 bolt then 3.42 will be as steep as I go; 3.73s and a 3800 stall would probably break the differential. Plus it's still my daily driver and I drive over 30 miles each way to work. When I get a daily driver then I can get a little more aggressive with it.

Now if you just got rid of those rice boy tires, a cut some better 60's...
It definitely has more of a sense of urgency when I get on it, revs a lot faster.
I was hoping to be able to keep the Nittos; I've seen guys cut 1.7 60 ft times with them and it's nice to not be afraid of getting caught in the rain. Plus they last a long time. I need to get my suspension lined out. Or maybe I'll just get the Hoosier drag radials and be done with it.
I already have the headers, but I have not yet had it tuned at all (except to correct the speedo and shift points after the gear swap). I'm sure I'm leaving something on the table with no tuning, I need to get on that.
