Default Going to Byron Sunday.... (also includes result/question from last weekend)

Well... I can't let a 13.8 be the best of the year... so I am heading up to Byron on Sunday to see what I can do at a real track with actual track prep. Will post results in this thread when I get home (or from the track if I have good signal).

That said ... I was talking with a friend last night and my results from Cordova are bugging me. I spun really bad but my trap speed is up from last time. I said I figured it was due to my spinning but then he said my trap was probably lower because I was spinning really bad. What's the actual 'facts' regarding the 'spinning gives you higher traps' argument?

For sake of discussion....

2.479 60ft
9.504 @ 84.07mph
14.057 @ 109.33mph

I remember spinning bad enough that I saw smoke in the side mirrors and then feathering it a bit and spinning a little in 2nd. Some people say that if you spin your trap speeds go up and others say that a little spin is good but too much spin hurts you. I'm sure no solid conclusion can be made here but I figured why not kick the subject around until I get a chance to run again.

Do you recall spinning in second & third? Thats where you'll lose trap speed from spinning.

I've never actually raced but according to my dyno numbers. I should run 8s on street tires.

I've heard that spinning off the line will allow you for a higher trap. But like bluebeast said spinning in 2nd or 3rd is where you will lose trapt speed. Good luck Sunday!

I spun 2nd briefly but 3rd was just a chirp. Does your trap speed go up when you spin more? (Being FWD might change things)

No I didn't make it up unfortunately. A bunch of new personal records set by people that weekend too. I have to focus on getting through the winter now so no more trips to the track this year.

haha. Me too. Now, I just need to find a winter vehicle. I don't have the heart to drive the T/A, even though it's far from perfect, and looks like it's seen a few winters before.

There is always next year man.

If you wanted to, just Correct your DA, that way it might help you feel better about your times.

J/K Man, you already ran a bottom almost flat 13 in a Bone Stock F-Body. I'd say that is very impressive.

Thanks man.. I just wanted a 12.xx this year..just didn't want it 'that' bad. Cordova had a car on it's roof that next weekend after I had my horrible experience there so I'm not sure if I will be making very many trips to the track next year but if I do it will be Byron.

I've had nights when my 60 ft varied pretty wildly but the trap stays fairly consistent. Then again I would never have thought that your car could pick up 25 mph in the second 1/8; my car typically picks up 22-23 (1/8 on the run in my sig was 8.24 @ 86.75).
