what? stock fords finally beating a sock 1998 LS1? Impossible!!! yaaarrghh.. so skeptical! what times were the auto LS1s getting? i rarely see quotes, but from the way people talk about how crummy those trannys are i'd expect a 13.2 as the best auto LS1.
anyway.. enough of that... now serious thought needs to be put into if I want a 5.0 or not.. it's tempting.. or a whipple next year..
next year the decision will be..
Auto 5.0 (with a few mods) vs whippled 4.6L 3v.. hmmmzz...
I'm impressed, and that was the news I was waiting to hear before I went to see if I could afford one.. the 2nd piece of news i'm waiting for is how much power that transmission can handle.. seems like the 5spd auto in my car people say is only good up to 450whp max.. and even then that is risky. (luckily at this elevation i'd probably be only at 400whp non SAE even w/a whipple)

I wouldn't say all that, lol. The GT500s struggle with traction and weight distribution. Give both cars equal traction and I guarantee you the GT500 will butcher this new 5.0

+1, I'm not sure i can buy into an automatic transmission with 3.15 gears out trapping a manual transmission with 3.73 gears, by more then 3 mph.

i went from 108/109mph with 3.73s to 112/113mph with 3.31s on 9psi. ya i know its a turbo car, but still just pointing it out lol
even if the timing equipment is off, its of a few mph, its still trapping 112+, thats damn good for an auto 3.15 car
