The traps for the heavy wheeled' lightning (red) was about 99-101 or so. Dude was launching nice too.

For my buddy with the ported blower(black), he trapped at about 105 I think. I'm not sure.

tried telling the owner of the lightning that running such a high octane isn't necessary. That thing is completely stock beside a pulley.

67mustang302 I think got the DA. I don't even know what that means, but I'm sure he got it.

By the way, when are you going out to run 67?

When I have money, which seems like it's 40 days past never at this point. I live kinda far, so it costs me a bunch of gas money to get there, plus food.

Sounds like he will not listen to reason and thinks his truck is way more radical than it really is. At this point I would just make fun of him for being so slow.

Anyway, my buddy has a Lightning and I wanna know why the hell that thing is running such low times.

He has 20'' tires and idk what brand wheels. They look heavy.
I think he has a 2.8 pulley(10lbs boost). Didn't lower tire pressure.
Thats it. No tune yet.

He ran a consistant 13.9. I just can't believe they are that slow. Really?
His best was a 13.8(2.1 60') even with the 112 octane. That didn't make sense either because he doesn't even have a tune for that kind of fuel. Is the weight of the lightning affecting him that bad?

My other friend has a lightning as well and ran 13.2 with a stage 1 porter blower, race tune(not dyno tune), nto5rs with 18 lbs, 112octane, cai, and 3:73s. 2.2 60'.

Someone school me on lightnings because I was expecting different numbers.

Also, another dude with a green new edge, whom I don't know, ran a 13.5 with drag radials and a centri s/c. ????????
Put different tires on the truck and it would pick up some ET.

The race gas probably doesn't hurt it, but it certainly help. If he wanted to fight off detonation he could juts add a few gallons of 100 oct.

I really like those trucks. With pullies, CAI and tunes (sometimes gears and stall) they can get into the low 12s. They are fast for a truck, but not that fast.

Actually, the race gas CAN hurt it. If you get all sorts of effective misfires in the chamber and the cylinders start loading up with fuel as a result, you can wash oil off the cylinder walls and accelerate ring wear, or if it gets in around the rings it can cause them to unseat and flutter.

It won't blow up or anything, but it will cause things to wear our faster.

What it is.

The higher the DA, the slower your car will go.

This will show you what the DA was at the track you were running at on a particular day. You can also correct your time for what you would be running at sea level.

Maybe if it's leaded race fuel put in a motor made for unleaded. Running pure 100 oct unleaded or mixed with regular pump will do nothing to hurt the motor in that truck.

Yes 100 doesn't burn like a 91, but it's not like apples and oranges either. Running 100% 100 unleaded or mix won't hurt a thing.

The wash out or ring wear you talk about will happen with any fuel, race fuel or not, if severe misfires or excess fuel is put into the cylinder.

If he was putting 112 leaded in his motor, that would not be good. People get away with doing it every once in a while but end up having valve and O2 sensor issues.
