Default R.I.P Blue

Only this kind of **** happens to me on X-mas. Blue was totaled this evening. Still not totally sure what happened. Some kind of mechanical failure caused me to loose control of the car on an interstate doing about 75. It looks like the passenger side wheel just broke apart. My wife and dog were also in the car. We were heading to my father in laws. Wasn't driving crazy for a change. The car just spun out. Hit a guard rail and curb. Then spun again and hit another guard rail before hopping a curb and hitting a sign. Car traveled a total of 150 yards before coming to a complete stop. What was weird is no one in the car was even slightly hurt. NO EVEN A BRUISE! The seats held us firmly in place. Mircle is all I can say. Blue has been the most interesting car I've owned. It went out in spectacular fashion. Now I have the tough dicision if I will get another sports car or something a little more grown up.

Blue - I'm so sorry man!!!! I truly hope that you and your wife and dog are ok.

Any idea on how the wheel came apart and off just like that?

How bad is the damage? Total loss?

Again, I feel your pain man. I've had two cars totaled. I hope you are ok. To be safe you should go to the hospital or a doctor and get check out. I still have a bad next from my accident this past Jan. Luckily I go checked out right away.

Merry Christmas and best wishes. just think of Bolton humping a bottle warmer

That's sucks....but it could have been worse.

Weren't you getting tired of the old turd anyway? Buy a Cobalt SS/TC!!

To me, it just seems like if you have owned a fast car for years, there will always seem like a certain emptiness if that car disappears without a proper replacement.

First and foremost, I'm glad that you guys are ok, a life cannot be replaced. She was a good car, she gave you joy and fun. I'd vote for the 2011 GT if you can swing it, or a Terminator.

Well what I think happened. My wife hit a pothole about 2 weeks ago. There has been a slight knocking noise coming from under the car but no matter how hard I looked I couldn't find anything wrong. I think the cast aluminum wheel cracked from the pothole impact and finally just flew apart tonight. If you look at the wheel the inner part of the wheel with the lug nuts is still attached to the car but the outer diameter of the wheel is completely gone. I've been talking about a new red GT for a few months now. I'll probably part blue out and use whatever I get as part of the down payment on the new GT. It's either that or a SUV. Thanks for the well wishes all.
