true mustangs do way more but the tq & rwdrive should compensate for moving the car. i dont kno it seems like all the numbers point to the GT. it doesnt seem like the maxima has much over the GT except weight and its a 5spd.

I have a lightly modded '97 Maxima...it used to smack around foxbodies and '96-'98 GT's all the time. I love that car. Those things move out for what they are....a family sedan.

not intake, heads are the difference in the 98 99 models, a stock 98 gt even with a slush box should be able to edge out a max, but then again a five speed max should launch better, also the 3.0 dual ohc four valve motor responds strongly to any improvements in air flow.(managed a nissan store for three years) its close but the stang should win

the guy who said he used to smack around fox body's in his 97 maxima is on crack, unless the fox we're running on 4 cylinders. i have a 2000 5 spd maxima 222hp, i raised it against my 200 5 sp v6er two years ago. v6 stang beat it untill like 120. i now have a 5.0 lx vert auto. Bone stock and ive raced the maxima from a 40 roll and blew its doors off. At about 160-170 km/h the maxima would pull. Maxima have nice top-end , had my going 225, then the grocery getting suspension started to scare, thought going bounce off the road. Had my buddy driving the maxima both times, and hes just as good if not a better driver than me. Neither of us are even close to pros, lol.
