Default My V6 vs. GTO

So this was on my way back from my parents house and was on the highway when I see this Black GTO (the newer body style) weaving through traffic like its his day job.

Anyway, I was bored and had my curiosity piqued and I stayed in the fast lane and kept him in my sight range. We ended up getting through the car packet (was kinda small) and we had a open road as far as the eye could see for the time being. So I pull up to him and he gives me this wave and I stupidly wave back- turns out he was telling me to go, and once I figured it out I gunned it around 40mph. And I am like, "damn, he probably thinks my sixxer is a cripple". About 3 glorious seconds pass, and then he blows past me like I'm chump change.

My ears aren't so well tuned to the sounds of the engine so I couldn't tell if he had a turbo or whatever, but to beat me I doubt he needed one lol. Anyway, he passes me and then we line up again and this time we let go at the same time and-surprise surprise- I was left eating his dust again...

I felt like a tool, but the rush was amazing. Unfortunately, we started to run into traffic again and I backed off while he started to weave through like 2 fast 2 furious again haha. Thanks for reading, appreciate your time and thought you guys would enjoy the run.

End. Discuss?

haha, oh don't tempt me! I would grab one in a heart beat, but I know its pretty irresponsible during college and I'm just gonna stick with bolt-ons for the next few years... What do those GTO's pack under the hood? I may not have a great engine, but damn that thing was pulling on me like it was a joke.

Although since I did well on my last midterm it has spurred me to get a new exhaust set up, lol I have a weird way of justifying things in life.

They pack either a 350hp LS1 or 400hp LS2 V8. 4 speed auto's or 6 speed manuals, RWD. The engine will depend on the year (2004's had LS1, 2005-2006 had LS2 I think).

Jesus, that explains my epic fail lol!

Those things pack some serious punch, I've seen them before but never bothered to research them before. Are all the model years like that? I mean, for a car with an engine like that it seems (looks wise) to pass under the radar IMO. Damn my ignorance haha.

It doesn't look as quick as it is. It easily blends in with traffic (looks like an older Grand Prix)...more conservative styling borrowed from the Holden Monaro in Australia. They were only slated for production in the US for 3 model years.

With some bolt ons, gears, and a 100 shot you'll give one a run.

As stated..they only imported them for 3 years (04 - ls1, 05 ~ 06 - ls2)... the LS1 models would pull a mid 13 in great conditions... the LS2 models would pull a high 12 in perfect conditions. Nice cars... My friend owns an 06 Auto... love taking that thing on road trips.
