Should be a healthy little beast on a road course. The original Boss 302's were made to meet the rules for Trans Am racing, so the first ones were road course cars, and so is this one. I do like that they included adjustable shocks as a standard factory part. I wonder how the brakes would hold up to repeated laps on a road course though.

you can get a Lacuna Seca package for your Boss 302 for around 5K more and includes the exact aero package from the Boss 302R (ford's road racing champ) and a substantial weight savings...
Ford engineer’s started with weight reduction by removing the rear seats and than in its place they added a cross-car X-brace that stiffens the rear chassis by as much as 10 percent. Also on the inside Recaro seats built by Ford SVT are standard plus an Alcantara wrapped race steering wheel provides the driver unmatched grip for any situation they may encounter on the track.

In the wheels and tires department the Laguna Seca package uses lightweight 19-inch alloy racing wheels with an R-compound ultra-high-performance tire.

Other enhancements over the standard Boss 302 include higher rate springs, larger rear stabilizer bar, aggressive front splitter and larger rear spoiler which can add as much as 90 pounds of downforce at 140 mph.
so whatever the original boss 302 does not beat on a road course expect the Laguna Seca model to do so

I took a few nice pics of it @ the NAIS

after googling it looks to be about 3,620lbs, so not as different from the normal boss as I thought, my guess would be the weight it shaved from the seats and creature comforts added up again with the extra stiffening material and body modifications for downforce

still it should be a handful and a half on a road course because that is weight being put to more work than the other crap was doing

as it sits right now just the base mustang GT is a drivers race with the E90 M3 in the corners AND in the straight-away, so I'm sure the regular Boss 302 would be that much more potent than the base GT and then the Lacuna Seca could quite possible float with some very seriously named cars once corners are brought into play... I'm thinking the Laguna Seca boss will be able to dance circles around any car in it's class and definitely any car in it's price range and possibly then-some looking at the handling performance of it's base V8 counterpart... but only time will tell

call me crazy but I'm thinking we are looking at a factory mustang that will be passing Vipers, Vette's and 911's around corners... stock for stock of course

On the Laguna Seca the brakes have a cooling system that directs air from the front dams onto the brakes

seen here

not a HUGE upgrade for the brakes but I'm sure it helps

It's a very impressive factory car, especially for how little it costs. Too bad its just a bit out of my price range.. i'll hvae to suffer with my lowly 2012 GT

I want to see a comparison test of the standard GT, the Roush Stage 2, and the Boss 302. I know the Boss will be quickest and handle the best, but I want to see how the Roush stacks up suspension wise. I have been eyeing the Roush as a possible contender for my garage next year.
