saleen racecraft 420 s @ the track
ok last friday i got out and raced a little atthe 1/8th mile track here locally.
had 8-10 mustangs there including a saleen racecraft 420s 2005 model 6 spd w/ a 475hp fctory upgrade package.
ok i ran him the first time with him on a 87octane tune (sct handheld)
i ran a 9.84
he ran 10.5 (asleep at the line and wheel spin)
ok he wated to go again i le him use his 93octane tune,
so we went again
i jumped him again at the line
and hit the end with a 9.79
he was just a 9.92 (9" tires giving a little trouble)
so we waited a bit and ran again ( after i gave him advice about the tree)
i got through at 9.85 w/ a decent reaction
he ran a slow 9.74 w/ a red light for jumping the tree.....
are these things just not as fast one would think of driver failure!?

Driver failure... bad. A supercharged S197 Saleen is capable of low 8s stock, mid 8s with an decent driver.
Also, what does the reaction time have to do with anything? Was this a bracket race or something? Either way, RT doesn't have anything to do with ET.

whenever i'm doing a time only run i dont care about my R/T... i'll sit there for 3 secs to get my RPMs right if I need to.... Driver failure.. tell him to get an auto like me his reaction time or your advice at the tree really doesn't matter.. what matters is his 60' and if he can shift worth anything.
I also have the opinion that Saleens are overpriced and he would have been better off building one himself or having a good shop build him a car. but he should still ahve been able to hit some low-mid 8s.
hell, in my bolt-on 2007 s197 with my ****ty 5000-6000' DA i was able to hit high 8s.

agreed and we were trying to get him ready for a saturday night bracket... but the carwasnt consistent enough w/ him driving it.... he raced 2 other mustang gt's (01 and a 04) and really got spanked....
he also went against a lil honda first of the night and had a better time than it but the honda left the line first and crossed the end first, i was thinking the thing should have a 8ish 1/8th at least!

Wow, just freaking wow. Saleens may be overpriced, but they do run. This is one of the worst cases of a complete and utter dipstick behind the wheel that I have ever seen. Surely a 475hp car isn't his first standard tranny?????
