new SS Camaro vs me
So i'm cruising around home today, and as i come up to a light a newer black SS Camaro pulls up next to me. He has his music blasting, and immediately turns it down, so i'm guessing he wants to run. Light turns green...i don't hesitate, and neither does he. Nice even start, but i pull a good 1/2 car through 1st gear. I continue a slight pull, and by the top of 3rd i let out (about 90 mph) with maybe a one car lead. So now i slow back down, and he pulls up again, and we're both cruising side by side at around 40 mph. I immediately down shift to 2nd, but he doesn't appear to (plus it sounds bone stock) so i'm guessing he's a totally stock auto at this point. After a couple of seconds he just nails it, and gets a slight jump on me. As a power shift into 3rd at about 6300 rpm, i start to slightly close the 1/4 to 1/2 car lead that he has on me. Close to the top of 4th now, and we're practically dead even, but had to let out due to traffic.
All in all i was bit surprised that i started to pull him a tad. I mean it was just a really tiny bit from like 40-110, but it still surprised me. Maybe these rides don't do so well with the auto trans...i don't know.
Also, in case any of you are wondering, i was running n/a on these runs as well.

I agree^^^
I think you just have a stout car. Autos are slower than the manuals, but that doesn't mean they are slow. They still trap 107-108 stock, so I'd imagine its easy to get one to trap what a manual will with just a tune. Anyway, good run man.

Thanks guys! I did a little research on the automatic L99's last night, and it basically confirms what you guy's are saying about them not being the best performers out of the box. Of course i'm sure a couple of mods will change that really quick. Either way i'm still happy to beat a car that traps 107-108.
Bokeo, the one you ran was a bone stock auto as well? If so that's very impressive with your mods.
