lost to a damn'd ls1!
well, sitting at my buddies house we hear something nice coming down the road. turns out it was a 98+ style ss. he gave it some gas when he drove by, so I ran right over, cranked open the nitrous and gave chase. we caught up to him and got a 10mph roll. We do 3 honks and hit it and he just pulls away pretty good, from 10-100 he put 4 or so cars on me. my car felt nutless tho so i knew it wasn't spraying. took it back to my buddies house and looked at my controller and my tps voltage was at 0 while the car was running. hmmm that's not right, 2 days ago i put a new pcv valve on the car, and when i finished i forgot to plug the damn tps sensor back in! -.-. could have been an easy win if i would have took my time a little better on that damn valve!
I'm not sure exactly what was done to the car, the guy said he just bought it, he said it had longtubes and exhaust/rear end work. it clearly had exhaust, rear control arms and a diff cover. it was also an auto, but i never asked him to pop the hood. all well i'm sure i'll see him again and will avenge my loss . however, given that i was on my 125 tune which pulls 5* of timing and richens it up some, i feel like i did pretty good on motor against it. here's a vid:

Since you were expecting the nitrous to help you out on that run, I'm assuming that run was on the nitrous tune, which no doubt didn't help you any racing on way less timing NA. At any rate, that run went about like it should've considering the circumstances.
If your nitrous had of worked, what do you think the outcome would've looked like? You up by one car, two, four, dead even?

yeah the nitrous tune was on so 5* less timing and i threw a little added fuel up top in on the nitrous tune also. I have no idea what the outcome would have been i would have liked to have find out. given that a stock auto traps around what 107/108? i'd imagine my trap would have put me out 2 cars or so.

About what they trap stock... It depends on the year really, and conditions, and driver. The 98 LS1 f-Body didn't have an LS6 intake, or as good of heads or manifolds as the later models, but it did have a hotter cam.... so it really depends. My 98 stalled/3.73/full bolt-on Z28 only trapped 109, but my current SS is most likely trapping 107-108 in the 1/4 judging by last weekends 1/8th mile trap with just the lid.
I'm guessing you would've laid a car on him in the distance you guys ran had your spray of worked.

well here's a race against a full bolt on '00 t/a i raced about a month ago, dyno'd 327whp with an auto, 3k converter and 3.73's with 555r's. I launched off idle, didn't flash the converter at all and still spun some(roads and tires were cold), then sprayed in 2nd gear on up with a 100 shot, also only had the 3.73's then. we let off at about 110 and i had a fender on him

I'd say 110 at minimum. I went 109.9 in my 4.10 geared Mach with an ORX and some weld in Mufflers and Elis Juans are supposed to have the edge on Machs up top, so I can't say for certain. I'm hoping that LTs/full exhaust put me over 110 easy enough, but man all these cars seem to vary more and more as the years go by.

yeah i know. i see the kid with the t/a just about every weekend but he wont freakin race me anymore and it's pissin me off! lol. i got the nitrous timing set perfect now to a half second delay so i dont have to wait to get all the way thru 1st for it to spray. i think the race would have been a lot better.
