Default Bullitt vs 96 Cobra

So I raced a Cobra tonight. It's a '96 Cobra. 141k on chassis, 20k on built shortblock, tons of suspension goodies, exhaust, 3.73's. The motor was built for boost. It's a B headed Cobra. He's got a fully raced out sitff as fawk suspension and sticky tires mounted on Cobra R wheels, and a spec-2 clutch.
My B is 3.73 geared, gutted catted bassani x-pipe, borla stingers, IRS which doesn't help out too much lol, custom kevlar built clutch, and not so sticky tires.
We did a 20 roll to 80 cuz the spotter cars where too close to us. He honks it off and our cars just roar. I pulled a half car on him, maybe taking the hit slightly early. I redlined it and then punched it into second where I shouldn't have, my not so sticky tires let loose and I got sideways losing all of my momentum. At this point he got a fender on me. We continue on into 3rd gear and I'm slowing pulling him back in. We had to shut it down after that because of the damn spotter cars being too close to us. All I know is that I need some stickier tires and my Aluminum d/s put in stat. I feel with better tires I could've beaten him. We'll run again sometime next week from a dig and then maybe a 40-120. Do you guys think the outcome will change?

Cliffs:
20-80 roll
I pull half car with slight hit
I get sideays in 2nd gear
He pulls a fender
I reel him back in but have to brake due to dumb spotters.

He should pull you slightly as you approach triple digits. Don't know if it will be enough to close the initial gap that you will be able to put on him off the hit. To be honest though, kind of surprised you pulled on him. Definitely do a 40-120 roll and let us know how it goes. Are you planning on getting a stickier tire before the race?

why stop at 120? 150 or bust!

j/k nice runs... get your stuff sorted and run them again.

Maybe theres more to those Bullits than Im aware of.... but I too am kinda surprised you pulled on him. Seems that everything is in his favor as far as mods go (besides gears), and, IIRC, should be putting down more power stock, much less with the work he's done. Not calling bs, just admitting I may be uneducated

This doesn't surprise me to be honest... the fact that the motor was built was boost may provide a clue as well...I'm guessing lower compression than stock?

Yes, I plan on sticky tires soon. I'll just troll CL like a mad hound. You're right about the lower compression. So his power numbers shouldn't be much higer than mine. I know my IRS and 18x9 18x10 DD Bullitts with old pirelli all season tires aren't helping much.

I thought the cobra owner's gf was but she apparently missed it. Next time we race I'll make sure we get some vids.

Good run Crash! He needs to get that blower on with that lower compression. I still think you should hold your own against a stock 96 though. Up to 100 mph anyway. Love those new edge Bullitts though, always have.
