Battle of the LS1's. Got my first races in the Z28
A buddy of mine in the next town over has been trying to get me to come out and meet up with him and his friends to go racing for awhile. I never really go over there because there's nothing worth racing. But, last night I decided to, and was glad I did. A couple kids I knew from the area with Trans Ams were there. And here's how the night went.
1st Race:
2000 Trans Am - 6speed, intake, LT's, and full exhaust
Dig - 140ish: I got him out of the hole, despite a less than perfect launch, resulting in a unwanted short shift to 2nd (I hate autos). I had about a car lead on him off the line. He stayed right there through first. Once he hit 2nd, he started inching up on me closer and closer. By the top of 3rd, he had pulled even, and slowly started inching past me in 4th and put a fender on me. Once he hit 5th, I started inching back up to him. By the time we got to where we were finishing, he had me by a foot or less.
2nd Race:
98 Trans Am Firehawk clone - 6speed, intake, short throw, catback, and 3.73's
Dig - 140ish: This one wasn't even close. He needed the driver mod pretty bad. I got a perfect launch on him, and put about 2.5 cars on him off the line. Then, just started a steady pull until the finish line, where I had about 6-7 cars on him. I know he didn't let off either. Because when I let off he came running up on me pretty hard.
So that's how last night went for me. The Z28 stands 1-1 now. I think if I would've had a perfect launch, like in my 2nd race, I could've taken the 1st race too. But, now I'm thinking I'll just order some LT's in the next few weeks and try it again. lol

Tempting. Dont know if I want to spend $50 though. Everyone from last night was talking about going up there tomorrow night. So I might go for another shot at James's T/A and to see what we're both running.

I'm curious to see what it'll do too. But don't really have the time since its harvest season and I'm out in the field late every night. I need to see what it'll do before I sell it. Lol. I put it up for sale last week because I hate having an auto. But last night makes me want to keep it awhile and start modding it some more. Haha. I need to do some data logging with my programmer and see what kind of adjustments I can make to edge out that T/A. All I've done with it is just modified the Diablo preloaded tune to adjust gears and tire height. Then I tuned off torque management. I'm not even sure if a 2002 Z28 has torque management. Lol

Yeah. After the run we went back to where everyone was sitting at the finish line and both held out our hands and were shaking from the adrenaline. No one could even tell who won because it was just a loud blur going by them at 140+. Haha
