2006 GT at the track: TAKE TWO
#21
I hear ya. Bottom line is, the car leaving the track in one piece is more important to me than a time slip. I'm going for fun and to hopefully do decently. I'm just not going to do a 5 - 6k launch with a stock clutch, 2 piece DS, etc.....even if it will most likely be okay.

Thanks, and don't get me wrong, I plan on racing next season too in search of better times I just want to be conservative as to keep the car intact. I really did have a lot of fun, to see the times keep going down and the mph going up was awesome. Plus the 12 second slip didn't hurt!
When you raced your vert it had aftermarket clutch and DS right? I would like to get those next probably. Also, any experience with the grinding or lockout issue? I've seen a bit online saying it happens with the tr3650

no way that car should be trapping 120. My buddy in a new edge which is a few hundred pounds lighter made 421whp and trapped 118 power shifting, so no way will anything under 500 in a stock weight s197 trap 120, so dont feel bad op. The traps look okay to me, if you can get it up to 115 o so with some practice you'll be set. With either better tires or a more advanced driver mod i dont see why low 12's would be outta the question.

I was looking at the slips....isn't my 1/8 mph a bit low? A best of 86 seems at least a couple mph off. Shouldn't the mph be closer to 90? My friends goat runs 89 and his best trap was 110.
A combo of both slow shifting and a weak launch I presume? That's the one thing that bothers me; the fact that I could not shift hard without grinding or being locked out of gear. I feel like I left a lot on the table......

If you're trying to power shift it and being locked out, especially out of 3rd, then that's not all that unusual. Some people seem to have bigger problems with it than others but it is by no means unheard of. The fix varies, some people put in torque limiters and motor mounts along with an aftermarket shifter. Some people just say screw it and put in another transmission. lol

This is not powershifting, it is regular shifts and happens in fourth as well as third. As crappy as the hurst is, I do not believe it to be the issue. Also, I've already got motor mounts. This issue was non-existent until last summer.
Other than banging gears at 6k + there are no problems. I am going to try putting new synthetic trans fluid and see if that helps. Also, when I can I'm going to get an MGW

I bet if you didn't have the mounts and the aftermarket shifter it would be fine. I have seen zero posts over the years here about that type of issue unless the transmission had a problem or the guy was power shifting it.
