Default Evo X vs Mach 1

Had some sh*t talkIng going back and forth between my friend in his 2012 EVO X.
So we finally "lined them up"

EDIT: (not a 6 speed, was a 5 spd manual) '12 Evo X (5 spd): intake, test pipe, exhaust, and a tuner
'03 Mach (5 spd): SLP LM1 cb and K&N drop in.

Had some sh*t talkIng going back and forth between my friend in his 2012 EVO X.
So we finally "lined them up"

'12 Evo X (6 spd): intake, test pipe, exhaust, and a tuner
'03 Mach (5 spd): SLP LM1 cb and K&N drop in.

Started at 40, I got the jump, 3rd gear and he pulls slowly, 4th gear and my front bumper is at his rear door.

Im happy with this and when I install my JLT RAI and Roys Intake spacer we will go again to see where I'm at.

Not too mention they come turbo'd don't they? My buddy just bought a 2012 WRX and I know they are typically in competition with Mitsubishi's EVO's.

^yes the evo's are turbo'd.

good race op. I would be proud of that. I'm surprised you didn't get pulled even harder since he has a tuner and most likely upped the boost.

Good run man. Just a former Mach owners opinion, get yourself an off road pipe before you spend money on Roy's spacer, or a cold air intake. My traps nor ETs changed with intake mods. I did however, gain 3 mph from an ORX.

Thanks guys.

I already have the parts sitting in my room. I was waiting until I came back off leave tO install them.

Bilstein HDs are next on the list, then a new midpipe. Won't go offload due to my LM1s.

If you go to YouTube and type in: Evo x vs Mach 1
Should be the second one down. Provider name is SMETeamEVO. Cell phone video.
Will get a better one next time. This was a spur of the moment thing. Haha

I used to have an 08 evo x and those things are mean as hell. With mine I gained 75whp over stock with just a cat-back, UCP, CAI, and a tune on 24psi pump gas.

Chances are he's just using a COBB tuner and a canned flash tune. If he actually takes it somewhere to dial it in and possibly go with a 3-port elect. boost controller I wouldn't be suprised if the beating doesn't get a lot worse in a hurry.

Good news is maintenance on those things is through the roof so it should keep him in check mods-wise till you can catch back up to him

I was expecting it to go worse for you. Most people don't know how to drive machs I.E. letting them rev to the moon.

like stone said, few more mod's and you will be right there with him...

Good thinking avoiding an off road pipe with LM1s. I made that mistake in Mach and not only did it sound awful, but I lost a lot of low end tq. I replaced them with some flows and it sounded really good and most importantly, it gave me back the torque plus some.

Yes, you're right, he is using a COBB Tuner. And I am in trouble because we are going to get our cars dynoed in Kansas City this Saturday and he's getting a dyno tune. Well, that just means time to beef up the ol' Mach.

Thanks bro. Yeah, finding the sweet spot is important on these Machs, I don't see why people let them rev to 7K before they shift. Just because it redlines at 6800 doesn't mean I makes power all the way there.

I noticed your name, MOS? Army Infantry here; stationed in Fort Riley at the moment.
