Road & Track's latest 06 ZO6 test
I was surprised to see that when Road & Track did a 0-60 and 1/4 mile test on the new ZO6, the #'s were weaker that most figures. 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and the 1/4 in 12.3 @ 116.6. I wonder why the #'s were so low, usually R & T's #'s are as quick as anyone's. Motor Trend had it at 0-60 in 3.5 and the 1/4 in 11.5 @ 127.1. I am wondering if these #'s were supplied to Motor Trend by GM?

Those numbers do suck for a $60,000+ car. LOL I cant wait to race the first one I see. As soon as I know there is one in my town, then I will have a camera and camera man with me anytime I go for a cruise.

12.3 is bs, all the articles ive seen they got them to a mid or high 11. Do the math, a C6 with 400 hp run a 12.7, and the Z06 has 505hp. It has to at least be a high 11.

Im sure a reputable magazine would lie about it too. All they did was print their result from the results their professional drivers made. Why would they lie? They dont favor any make or model.

its gotta be faster then 12's. mm&ff ran an 05 non z06, it had full exhaust, and they got 12.3 out of it. id say that w/ almost 100 more hp, it should be mid-high 11's at worst. the thing is a freakin beast. beautiful car.

If you guys only knew how magazines like Road and Track test car you would not put any stock in the numbers. They actually launch all cars at the RPM, for example (lets use 3500 rpm for the sake of argument) they launch a Viper at 3500 and it smokes the tires, next they test a Civic and it bogs at 3500. Thats why in the real world cars often go faster than what the magazines rate them. Jdan just keep thinking the Z06 C6 runs low 12's, not saying you won't beat a stock one but come on man, look at what every other test is getting out of them.

C&D got 11.7 @ 125 mph. The R&T numbers are a little funny.
But the C&D comments left me unimpressed - they particularly mentioned "un-communicative chassis". That's not something you want from a pure sportscar. They also mentioned the aluminum chassis is weaker than the C6's steel frame, and braces were used. Again, I'd rather have a car that's 100 lbs heavier but rock solid.
Overall though, you can't complaine for 60 grand. We'll see how it does against a Viper on the road course. Still don't think it'll ever touch the GT; difference class.
