Default What's your wheel/tire setup for the strip?

Trying to get ideas.

Looking into the following for the rear wheels/tires:

17x8", 9", or 10.5" with a 26" tall, 275 or 315 wide tire, or...
15x8" with a 26" tall, 275 wide tire.

Any of you with 17's and are successful?

Also, I have 18" wheels right now. 18x9 up front with a 265/35/18, which I guess is like a ~25tire. Could I run a 17" on the back still with a 26" tire?

So many questions

4.10
Around 5,500 I'd say (forgot exactly since it was 2 weeks ago since I was last there)/~99.59MPH in 4th gear. I either shift at 6100 or 6500 through all four gears. Still practicing to see where the Mach likes to be, especially up here in this ****ty elevation of 3700.

Here is a dyno video with the graph at the end if you want to look.

As for now I'm running the big *** FR500's you see in my sig. 305's out back and 275's up front. Once the car has a blower on it I plan to swap to GT brakes in the rear to run a 15" wheel out back and a 17" skinny up front.

As for figuring stuff out about your car, hit the the Mach 1 registry. Lots of good tech info over there.

235/50/18 pirellis on oem gt takeoffs. 1.9x 60s

26.5/10.5/17 mt et street bias ply on 17in racestars. Only 3 passes on those with a best of 1.81 60ft.

I'd go with a 26" tire, 17 x 8/9" rim, shift at 6500-6600, just past peak power.

I would consider just going with a 275 17" MT Drag radial....honestly think it would more than hold at your power level. A 26" slick would no doubt hold better, but imo you don't need that much sidewall and your going to sacrifice some top end with the extra drag of a slick.

with your setup a dr would prolly suffice, but it'd still be holding you back from what a good slick will do. however to get the best you're gonna need a 16/15" wheel so you can get more sidewall. I had a 17x8 wheel with a 26x10.5x17 et street bias ply on my '95 and it worked good, however It was still kinda tricky getting it to hook.

Try a 275/50/15 Mickey Thompson Drag radial. 15" wheel so you have more sidewall for beter traction, and overall height of 26". When my car was making 550rwhp, I used them with pretty good success.... went a 1.64 60ft with zero suspension mods.
