What tires are you guys running? I'm sitting on Hankook Ventus, 275/40/17, and they hook pretty decent considering. I can't mat it from a dig or anything, but from a roll, or at the track I can pretty much give them hell.

I tried Nitto Invos and Falken 452s which are on it now. 245/45 front and 255/45 rear.

Sounds like you just need more back there (wider) or something stickier. I pulled some high 1.7s on Falkens years ago in a different Z28, but it did have a lot of suspension work, etc. There are a few good tires out there these days that are all but drag radials but still retain good tread life. If anything, slap some 555Rs on the rear, you'll still get 20k miles out of them if you don't do a bunch of burnouts.

I don't envy you guys in that aspect... I can get moving on these M+S all season 245s ok. (well I launch from idle and often big but still cut 2.0 60fts most of the time).. Seems like once the srt8 guys hit a certain point nothing but drag radials can get them traction.

I thought you were on all seasons. I have to leave off idle as well and ease into it at the track. At WOT however, yeah....anything under 45-50 mph is pointless.

Why not slap some better tires on there for the warmer months, Skater? Or pick up another set of rims/tires?

I know what you are both saying. When you have 4335 or more to get moving, it's a whole lot easier to spin the skinny tires than to move the car. LOL. I have done a doughnut or two at some stop signs......... Not as many as my wife though. She won't drive it when it's wet.

Lmao that has to suck. You guys seem to have a lot more torque down low as well.

Stone this will be the first year I'm going to have a beater for winter so I'll be looking into tires when I upgrade to 17s so I can do a brake upgrade. I'm not in a big hurry though... Just enjoying the car at the moment and trying not to sink money into it all year.

*****, mine has sent my *** around a loop or two as well, in the rain. They'll make you respect them in a heartbeat.

I hear ya, Skater. I'm trying to stay away from spending money on my car as well. Hardly ever make it more than a few months without giving in though, lol.

So far I have a whopping 800 in mods.. (until I do tuning)... I do unfortunately have a knock we believe to be lower end (155K on it and counting now) so I'm going to be out a chunk of money eventually no matter what. Just want to time it so it's not all at once.

Uh-oh. Hate to hear that. You going to drop in a different engine or rebuild? An LS2 would be a decent/easy upgrade once it goes.
