Default First time at the track - 2000 Mustang GT

So I finally took the Stang to the dragstrip (first time racing in any car) at Lebanon Valley Speedway and had a blast! The times, not so good though, lol. Couldn't get traction on any run, but after doing some quick pre-run burnouts my 60' times approached respectable.

1st Run
Reaction - .75
60' - 2.804 (Blistering, I know!)
330' - 6.955
660' - 10.234
660' mph - 75.21
1000' - 13.056
1320' - 15.409
1320' mph - 94.40

2nd Run
Reaction - .395
60' - 2.544
330' - 6.615
660' - 9.839
660' mph - 78.10
1000' - N/A
1320' - 14.949
1320' mph - 97.74

3rd Run
Reaction - .577
60' - 2.499
330' - 6.586
660' - 9.800
660' mph - 77.79
1000' - 12.550
1320' - 14.852
1320' mph - 98.81

4th Run
Reaction - .5000
60' - 2.131 (That's more like it!)
330' - 6.000
660' - 9.143
660' mph - 80.52
1000' - N/A
1320' - 14.158
1320' mph - 98.61

Overall I'm happy, even though I was expecting to be in the mid-13's. Can't wait to go back! I did end up beating a Cobalt SS, couple of civics, but got whooped by a new Camaro SS who ran a 13.4 (This seems pretty slow, no?).

What kind of tires are you running? You have mid 13's easy in that car, it took me 5 runs to break into 13's my first time out. I eventually ran 13.712@ 102.4, my mods are 3.73's, catted bassani xpipe, Borla stingers, but I had ****ty old used worn out all season pirelli's. Practice practice practice.

New Sumitomo HTR III's 275/40/17.

My goal next time is mid 13's @ 100+ with a sub 2 sec 60'. I think just hooking up should get me most of the way there. Oh I forgot to mention, this was a last minute stop out there, and I was running with 3/4 of a tank of gas. Not sure how much that made a difference.

The gas wasn't helping at all. Those tires........ummmm.....they are good for road noise. If you're looking for a decent street tire, nitto's or kdw 2's. Those tires are worlds better that those sumitomo's. A better tire will yield you much better results. Your 60' ft on your last run is pretty close to my pb 60'

I know the HTR I & IIs are junk, but the HTR IIIs are a pretty good tire. Ran through the decision process with Jazzer (tire mod) and got it down to them or the Continental DW's.

I'm with Crash...at least you were improving! Definitely a mid 13 in that car with decent air and you doing you're part. Getback out there and make some more passes and that car will surprise you! Good runs, not bad at all. My only suggestions are, only run with a 1/4 tank, lose the spare tire, and dont get greedy on the launch.

Definitely will do on the 1/4 tank and spare tire. As for the launch, I was only at 2k RPMs when I dropped and still spun. Should I try to get the RPMs up at all or just gun it from idle?

Also this guy came to the track:

Ran a 10.3 sec 1/4 mi and was promptly kicked out for not having the necessary safety gear. Quite the ear-gasm when it took off.
