IS 350 VS Mustang
Last night around 11:40PM I was on the way to my friends work to pick him up. About 2 miles before my exit this semi truck pulls out in front of me ( 6 lane road) from the right lane into the middle. I move over to the left and pass casually and noticed this what I thought was a newer Acura trying to pass as well, after we both pass the semi, he stayed right next to me. I thought nothing of it, it looked like a regular fancy commute car and kept going. Shortly after that thought he gunned it a little bit and my front bumper was at the back of his front doors. So I said to myself okay okay...
I down shifted from 5th to 4th and then into 3rd going roughly 55MPH and he guns it. I immediately step on it and close in on him at the end of 3rd and pass him by a car length at the end of 4th, but as some of you may know I have serious problems getting into 5th when pushing the car. It took me maybe 4 or 5 tries to get it into gear and of course I lose the lead but I keep going and he's about a car length ahead but I start to gain but he shuts it off when I was around 135/140 (fastest I ever went in the Stang!!)
He ends up taking the same exit as I do and as I was behind him I found out it was an IS 350 had to be a newer year, at least a 2010 (it had that future styling to it) and I knew the real fun was about to start. At the first light coming off of the exit ramp we lined up and he had his window down by the time I pulled up next to him. He asked me what happend ect ect. I ask him if he wants to do one more from the light (my friends work is 3 stop lights away), and he nods and we both get ready. I watch the side lights for them to turn yellow and then gun it a second after they turn red. I take off first and rather smoothly by my standards (I normally have some tire spin). And as I thought my 1st gear (4:10 gears) worked beautifully, by the end of 1st going part way into 2nd he was a good car length/ car length and a half back and then kept going to the end of 3rd into 4th part way and shut it down around 80MPH. I had to slow down real quick to make my turn but we both managed a thumps up out of our windows. We didn't talk about our cars other than my misbehaved 5th gear, but I could tell he was an automatic.
Wish I knew what year his car was, it looked BRAND SPANKING NEW, looked like the 2013 that I looked up, but I don't know if those are our or not. All in all very pleased with the outcomes for the most part.
