Default Track visit.. 11 GT550 run, bad vid

Figured I'd take it to the track tonight after work. Conditions were alright I guess, definitely not where I would've like it to be, but whatever. Track was slick for the first couple hours. DA was only 1200 some feet, but humidity was 67%. Temps started at 80 degrees, but dropped to 74 around 9pm.

I started off running mid 12s at 112-113, couldn't do better than a 2.0 60'. Not good. Around 9 pm when the temps dropped and the track got stickier, I was able to eek out a 12.2 at 115 mph, 7.8 at 92 mph, on a 1.90 60'. Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with the trap speeds. I would like to see 118 consistently, not 113-115. Don't know if its the humidity, my stock 2.75" exhaust piping, or both...but I'm going to start with the exhaust by either doing a cut-out or buying a 3" set-up with a bullet muffler Vs the cross flow I'm using. Excuses-right, lol.

Got to finally run a buddy's 2011 GT500. Its bone stock except he was running MTs. He pulled a 1.8x on this run, but I was able to get him between shifts. He has ran 11.9 at 118 according to him. Anyway, here's the God awful cell phone vid of it...

Also got *** raped by a modded ZL1 running 10.8 at 133 mph. Thing was flat sick..

Hey man, it is strange that you are only trapping within a few mph of your old setup which consisted of bolt ons only. This may sound like a stupid question, but is the car dyno tuned?

Oh yea, it was dyno tuned. Made 385 thru the stock cat-back and 100 degree air. I trapped 114 with bolt-ons only, but it was in perfect DA, like 500' and 53 degrees with 0% humidity. With bolt-ons in this air it went 12.4-12.7 at 110-112. The car is kind of all over the place though. I ran from 12.2 to 12.8 tonight, all in the 1.90-2.0 60' range. Highest traps actually came from manually shifting it..?

I think MZRSpeed3 has the right idea (I hope to God). Cooler air, open up this exhaust some...see what happens. I doubt this set-up will ever trap over 117-118 though. Just confuses me how the car seems to hang with 118 MPH cars like this GT500 and Greddy, but then it turns around and traps so low.

Hmmm...it made 385 rwhp with the stock cat back, so what do you think it makes now? I know DA, humidity, temp, etc...all come into play here, but that's what my stang trapped with the same rwhp, and it was probably 200 lbs. lighter than the SS that we have. So where does your car shift at?

I'm thinking its in the 395-400 range now, all I did was remove the stock muffler and replace it with a magnaflow crossflow muffler, so I have LTs and an ORY running into a 2.75" single pipe and then into the magnaflow muffler.. Supposed to be a free flowing muffler, but its still far from a bullet style, or a good 3" set-up.

I've also stalled it since then too. Did a 2800 Vigilante 9.5" stall. Drops like 20lbs off the crank, but I honestly haven't noticed any gain with it, not on a track slip anyway.

Shifts at 6500..

I don't doubt it. Ought to run that high 11 later on, pick up 2-3 mph. Back when it was just bolt ons and ran a 12.2 at 114, I did say that if I could just mod it enough to run that year round even in the worst conditions, that I'd be happy..guess thats mission accomplished, lol.

Getting a cut-out put on today. VERY tempted to pull the trigger on drag radials too. Track will be open on Sundays for now on, so as soon as it drops down into the 50s-60s, I'm headed back.

I hate September for track conditions. Seems to be the worst month I think. Still warm but changing weather leaves it moist in the air and on the track.

And do it, you will kill the 60's with those!
