Run in with a Cayman S
Getting onto the highway at night with my friend in the car and bigD1515 behind me in his 2011 sixxer I see a Porsche merge on also. I speed up a little to get next to it and I see it's a Cayman S, I'm guessing a 2004-2006.
We get to the next light and we are both a car back from the front so we take off like normal but bigD1515 has this thing with revving under bridges.. Lol. Of course, there is a bridge being built literally right past the light. We go under the bridge and of course, he revs. I look back and see where he is then back to the road and the Porsche is taking off and getting in my lane as the car in front of me switches to the lane he was in.
I floor it, I drive an auto, and stop his pull after he get's about 2 cars ahead of me and in my lane. He backs off and I catch up as he changes back to his lane. We back it down to about 70 and stay together for a bit but I'm nervous because of tickets.
My exit is coming up so I have to get over and think to myself, "How often do you get to race a Porsche?" so I floor it to see what he will do and he follows suit. I'm only ahead to about my passenger door and he stays there the whole time up until I let off at 120 to make my exit.
My mods are BBK CAI, X pipe, axlebacks and 3.73 gears with a tune. I'm surprised I held up after Stephen1371 walked me from 70 with CAI, 3.55s, headers, o/r x and axlebacks in his manual.

The first year available for Caymans was 2006. If it had standard tail lights and not LED strips then it was a 2006-2008.
I'm not too surprised you held up. When my dad took his to the gainesville 1/4 he trapped in the mid-high 100's with a mid-low 13 ET. They can be quick cars but 295 HP and 3000 lbs can only get you so far. If it was an auto it would be even slower.
The Caymans only became quick once the engines were updated and the 7 speed PDK was added.

I was looking up the info on them to see what year it could be and all that and I saw on a few sights that they made them in 04? I really didn't pay attention to the tail lights, if I would have known then I would have looked more closely. Around here Porsches are pretty rare so I don't pay enough attention to them to really know the difference.
I also had my friend in the car and no top end so with being about 400 pounds lighter and probably more top end.

The cops around here like me apparently. They pick on me for small things trying to catch me doing something else wrong then let me go. It's annoying. Thankfully they allowed me to have a little fun with the Cayman.
