150 shot 01 Cobra Vs H/C LS1 Rematch

Last time we ran we were pretty evenly matched. I did drag radials, 3.73s, and tuned my stall to lock at 88ish. Made a big difference. Thanks for the runs AndrewClark. Let me know if you want to rematch before you take off man. I'd like to get a couple more 40 rolls with you on a full bottle, not hesistating, etc.

Those damn catfish... nice video! Thats a pretty fast cobra to hang in there like that with his mods!

PurpleIcedGT 06-21-2013 10:20 AM

Good God that was a massacre.
Everytime I see videos of Stones car winning races I stop thinking hes going to trade the SS in for a '11 5.0hhhhhhhh

Stone629 06-21-2013 10:47 AM

Neither of us expected it to be that dramatic since our runs back in December were neck and neck. I knew traction and getting into my power quicker would edge him out, but not like that. His nitrous was breaking up on a couple of those runs. Also gotta remember he is built for boost, low compression...not ideal for nitrous.

Good looking Cobra, ooogly results.

ctgreddy 06-21-2013 04:13 PM

Hard to believe those few mods made you run that much harder. But seeing is believing. Your car never ceases to impress man.

Stone629 06-21-2013 06:24 PM

AndrewClark is trying to respond, but the forum isn't letting him. Any help is appreciated..

Yea, I can't believe those few/minor mods made THAT much difference, but then again tires, gears, and the stall retune are definitely enough to wake it up. Adds up for sure.

What's he running in the quarter ? I see your sig says 11.60's is that still accurate ?

Mid 12s I think. He hasn't ran the track like I have though, so his ETs are not all that great of a comparison to what his car can do. Boy shifts like an automatic though!

Last time we ran looked like this..

Stone629 06-21-2013 08:39 PM

He said he went 12.5 at 113, first pass ever on nitrous. Should have 11s in it imo.

Explosive 06-21-2013 09:47 PM

Has it been on a dyno with the spray ? I'd expect faster times than mid 12's, doesn't excite me about a 100 shot on mine lol

ctgreddy 06-21-2013 10:00 PM

Sounds like it was the guys first time at the track on spray with a stick car, deff not the easiest thing to go out and run some personal bests with. My old gt with a 150 shot Prolly made 375ish at the tires thru the auto and ran a 12.1@111, but that was an auto car on slicks, sure makes the track a lot easier. I bet the cobra has high 11's in the mid teens in it all day once he gets more seat time. Stones been to the track a lot, almost seems like he lives there, hard to compare times between the two cars.

crash 06-21-2013 10:44 PM

Stone mentioned that the cobra is built for boost with low compression. You'll be fine explosive

Explosive 06-21-2013 11:04 PM

Yea there's a n02 number thread on the mach registry going by those I'm hoping low 12's we shall see I suppose

Stone629 06-21-2013 11:16 PM

Greddy and Crash pretty much summed it up. Only other thing I would add is that Machs are indeed a bit quicker than the 01 Cobras mod for mod. Andrew's Cobra for sure has 11s in it with enough seat time. He is a street guy, hardly ran at the track, not like I have anyway. So comparing our track times is a lost cause. Plus I'm running a stalled auto on tires that honestly a monkey could pull a decent 60' in, lol. Anyway, Explosive your Mach on a 100 shot will be a fukn beast, trust me. You and I would/should be one hell of a run if it makes you feel any better. I do highly suggest you get a better stall and tune it to cooperate though. When my stall locks down, its like a 50-75 shot, no kidding.

Explosive 06-22-2013 12:32 AM

God I want a stall bad. Already did but everything I've heard from people with them is how much of a difference it makes. Your car was pulling hard in those videos man it looks strong for sure

Not sure about his RWHP, but he said his RWTQ was 475..

Stalls are where its at. You don't feel them until you get set-up for them though. I wasn't impressed with mine at all until I threw some DRs on and hit the track. It caught me totally off guard when it launched. I'm still not even stalling it up very high cause it will smoke these DRs if I do. The launch accompanied with the much smaller/lighter aftermarket stall (stocker for me was 14", Vigilante is 9"), TQ multiplication it provides (went from 350-360 RWTQ to 400+), and the ability to lock it up top makes for one hell of a mod. Its worth it if you can swing it.

andrewclark 06-22-2013 09:14 PM

Finally I can reply lol

What is up everyone, first off, I got raped.

Now I have run my car at the track probably 30+ times, only about 4 or so on nitrous though so I am no stranger to the track. I even went today and sprayed it but blew a hole in my main n2o line.

Car made 384/430 at 850-900psi and 401/470. At the time of the race I was around 900psi and after a few back to back runs I was down about 50 psi.

Everything aside Trey's car is impressive to say the least. He has that thing set up right. I will get my revenge one day though. :)

crash 06-23-2013 09:31 PM

Andrew, are you ever going to boost that thing? Did the nitrous come with the car or was it a deal you could just not pass up?

andrewclark 06-24-2013 11:29 AM

Crash, the car is going to be boosted eventually. Probably a procharger but at the moment I dont have the funds. The nitrous did not come on the car. During the motor build I wanted it to be faster so I opted for n2o since it was a 1/4 of the cost to supercharge it.
