Default A Bullitt, an 05+ Gt, and a death

#latepost
Cruisin' down the street in my 6 4.

Jk all kidding aside, I finally got some action worthy of a post. I was on my way to Mexico late at night and saw some familiar headlights in my review mirror. A 2012+ 5.0 comes next to me, drops it down a gear and shoots away from me. "*******." I mind my own business and keep cruising. Another set of headlights appear in my mirror and I notice its an 05+ GT. I figure what the hell and decide to play a bit. That 5.0 comes back and tries to pick on me, goosing the throttle with his buddy. I yell out the window "Ya ya, pick on the little guy." He puts a thumb up and goes a little ahead of us. That 05+ Gt pulls up even and I hear him downshift. I drop down to 4th and then 3rd. My tach reads 3-3500 ish at 65mph, I think. No one is honking it off and we just posture a bit, I'd stab my throttle for a quick second and so would he. After doing this 3-5 times I decide that I'll just take the hit being the underdog. I take the hit and we are off. He timed it perfectly and as I got out to a 1/4 of a fender lead to stops my pull. It stays even through 3rd and I bang 4th as hard as I can. He slowly pulls even by 100 ish and begins to pull on me. I'm a car length behind at the top of 4th (120mph). I shut it down and throw a thumbs up. My exit was coming up and didn't want to miss it.

I knew I was going to lose since I could tell it was lightly modded. No shame in a defeat to something I'm supposed to lose to. I will be honest, it got me wanting more power.

My mods are 3.73's, mid pipe, cat-back, and a canned 91 tune. I know, nothing impressive.

You say "nothing impressive ", but enough to get your adrenaline pumping. Good run, at least you tried.

Crash, have you ever had it to the strip?

I'd be curious what your bullit would run in comparison to my car when I was on DR's. My best was 13.6 but thats 4.10's, midpipe, catback and as I said, some MTs.

That was when I had the IRS swapped in with bald all season tires on heavy deep dish 18x10 bullitts. I'm sure I could go quicker with more practice, lighter wheels and some tire. The track is too far

I don't care how fast or slow your car is. Imo, you have one of the best looking, coolest cars on this forum. There is actually a 2V bullitt for sale here in Raleigh now and I drool every time I pass by it sitting on the lot. IDK what it is about them, but I dig them.

At any rate, sounds to me like you did alright considering that 3V is a superior car mod for mod to yours. I bet from a stoplight thru the 1/8th you'd give him a fit. Nice run man.
