Holding a gear in an auto definitely makes a difference. From 30 mph, I hold mine in 1st gear at about 5k rpm. It jumps hard as *** like that.

Even if he'd still edge you out without passengers in your car, there's no shame in that loss. He has a lot tied up in that car, and a lot of NA power to contend with.

Yup, I have no shame in the loss. I just wish it was on better terms as far as the condition.

+1..if you want to spin the tires then letting it downshift is great... holding the gear keeps traction and removes the delay.

One other thing, letting the car downshift itself won't go into a low enough gear/high enough RPM every time either. If I hit mine from 30-35 mph, it won't kick down far enough to do what I need it too, even though it is tuned to do so...

Crank it on up to 4500-5k RPM when you hold it. With mine, I have to lift off the throttle for a split second when upshifting to get it to engage the next gear, but its worth it.

on my old auto gt it would have a huge delay when trying to manually shift, so when roll racing i'd usually just nail it on the second honk. then by the third honk the car would be downshifted and just start going.

Still can't get that crazy high starting RPM letting it downshift itself though. Mine won't automatically downshift unless its into a gear putting it no higher than 4k or so. Manually, I can hold it much higher and get a pretty good jump.
