Default Ran an SRT Neon

I was sitting in a left turn lane when a Neon pulled up next to me in the straight lane and kept looking over. As I was turning I noticed he had gotten over into the turn lane and was turning as well. I knew what was going to happen, so I slowed down as much as possible considering there were other cars behind me. Sure enough, he came flying up and paced me. We took off at ~25, which is not the greatest for me (it's too fast for 1st, but a little slow for 2nd). He got a car length lead quickly, but once I got into the power band I stoppped his pull. I couldn't reel him in though and we shut down at ~100. Did it again from 35, with the same result though he only got about 3/4 of a car on me. We hit a light, but a guy was in front of me so we couldn't run from a dig.

He asked what I had done to the Mustang. I told him and he asked what it put down. I told him about 361 at the wheels. He said his put down 429 and ran 11.9s.

Not bad considering 70hp difference, and being his car is lighter. But 11.9's out the of his car at that power……… should be quicker. But eh, who knows his setup. Congrats on sticking close.

Yeah, the only advantage I had was gearing. That time was probably what he runs here in Central Texas in the high heat and humidity without DA correction. I didn't get a chance to hear about his mods before the light changed, but he had a very loud blow off valve on that thing.

You're at 361 at the wheels (over 400 at the crank or over 100+ HP from stock) with just your mods?? Cams, some exhaust work, a CAI and tune, and gears....and no head work...? Mmmm...I dunno. Sounds like a streeeeetch.

I can see that if you add FRPP heads or PP your heads with larger valves, upgraded intake manifold and GT500 TB....

The first time I went to the 1/4 (only 383whp at the time) I left with an 11.8@123. First time playing with slicks as well. Can't really tell anything from someone's claimed dyno numbers.

Congrats on those times, that's a great trap speed for that power, is your car lightened at all? And how's your 60ft. Just curious with it being fwd.

Are you the one that the op raced?

2880lbs. Nasty 60ft that trip.. 1.9 (next trip was a 1.73 on slicks and stock/Mopar suspension)
Traps tell more than a dyno number.

No..

Good run OP. He may pull those ETs on the track, but I'd imagine those front tires were struggling on the street.

361? That sounds awful high to me as well. But dynos are dynos, never been big on the numbers they spit out.

Im with u stone. Suprising dyno results. A skittle with that power would be a roll monster. So you must be making some kinda power to keep up or the skittle owner is fudging numbers.

Yes, a "430whp" Neon would be a roll monster(in comparison to the 3V in question, yet still weak in contrast), though not without a boost box/boost by gear from a 25 roll..If he was able to jump ahead from 25, then not pull ahead with your set up..he isn't making that "power". From exp..I was trapping like like 6-7 mph more than a pullied Termi Cobra, and like 5mph more than a 175 shot/bolt on LS2 Goat..few members on here to confirm.. ..again with a weak 383whp..(again dyno numbers) ..They can be severely either off in the neg or pos..
