What size slicks are you running on your S197?

you give no detail for your question to be answered.

rear gear?
trap speed?
rpm at the stripe?
gear at the stripe?
60'?

but probably a 29" is too tall

Sorry my bad. I'm going through the traps at 116 mph. I have 4:10 gears and a T56 Magnum six speed

Just ordered a Race Star wheel package from Brenspeed, 15x10 and 17x4.. Going to put my 28x10.5 on the rears. And I can sell the new set I have then get some new 17 tires for the new front skinnies,..

I have 15 all around and the fronts are 15x4 (New, 2 of them) and 15 x 8 (secondhand). Got them both about a year ago, Comes worth the spacers to they will fit on a s197 sting. I already had them down the track with my car, no problems at all, straight as an arrow..

The rears will not have any tires as the have been mounted on a wider new rim. So, everything, 2 front skinnies 15x4 and 2 rears 15x8.. $300 plus shipping..

With a 116mph trap speed I would probably go to a 26" tall slick. Just my .02.

Assuming that 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio in your transmission, at 116 mph you would be turning appx 6100 rpms at the stripe in the 1/4 mile. On a slick you will get a little bit of growth as the tire reaches higher speeds, so the actual diameter might be closer to 26.75" as you go thru the traps which might put you just a touch under 6000 rpms. Should be perfect.
