Default IS350 this morning

So who knew? I was coming down an exit ramp that I normally just run at speed (nice S curved ramp) and a black car followed me down without slowing at all. I figured someone wanted to play so I moved over and tossed him a thumbs up once we hit the interstate. I let it pass a little just to look at the badge (I could tell it was Lexus but nothing else)... as the rear came into view I saw 'IS350' and thought cool.. nice looking car but that was about it. A few moments later he takes off (I lose half a length between us before I manage to react) and I downshift to 2nd (around 60mph) and hit 3rd slowly gaining but not like I had hoped... then as I go for 4th he lets off my nose at his rear bumper. We go again and I pull away but not very hard...(wtf i thought my tune was better but I guess not ).... maybe a couple of car lengths by 100 from a 15-20mph roll (caught a light that changed to green before we stopped). I just got here and looked it up...pretty quick car but I should have done better. I guess we will see how its running this weekend at the track but as of right now I have my doubts I will see anything worth talking about.

cliffs? IS350 takes hit, lets off for the win around 110... second race I pull a couple of lengths from a 20 roll to 110ish again

Are you sure it wasn't an IS-F?

I'd guess a mildly modded is350 is probably a mid 13 second car once it's tuned. We'll know more about your car shortly with the time slip.

I'm already preparing myself to pull the front apart after sundays event. I have my timing set, fuel is perfect, AFR is as good as I'm going to get it.

I found some interesting things looking around... there is a guy running 12.8 @ 109 with an is350...minor weight reduction and cai/exhaust. I'm hoping I just ran into a fast one and my car isn't running mid 13s/105 traps like this run would indicate at first glance.

I researched those cars pretty heavy before buying my wife the 07 G35. The IS350 is quicker than them, and her car was a pretty solid high 13 car at 102-103. Doesn't sound like its uncommon for the 350 to run mid 13s at 105. So between him getting a jump and the the time it took you to react, I wouldn't beat yourself up to much. I ran my wife a few times with my SS when it was just tuned/cat-back/lid and whenever I gave her the jump from a roll it definitely took a few seconds to actually catch back up. Being that the IS350 is quicker than a HR G35, your run sounds about right.

was up at Great lakes Dragaway last Fri. nite. Tons of cars up testing for Saterdays KOTS race. There were a Few Is350's up there running. With some light mods those things are really quick. Saw a couple running into the 11's and 1 with a turbo in the 10's. So if your around The Chicago area Be careful going up against 1 LOL.

I'm about 2 1/2 hours from downtown... I guess it's possible to run into something thats traveling over this way (I80), I wasn't aware that these things could be modded to that level. Impressive.

Well things make even more sense... track rental was not a good time. I have a number of mechanical things to look at now to figure out what is going on.... tune was spot on...AFR was 12.7 - 13.0 during my runs..timing at 28 degrees peak (26.5 - 28 during pull)... no KR. Ran 13.4 @ 107 on a 2.1 60ft in 2700DA (13.0 @ 110 MPH for those interested).

I was hoping the cam was off a tooth but I took a picture when I did the install and it's perfect... the only thing that changed was the lifters and now some people are wondering if the 7.425s are too long with the LS7 lifters... will be swapping the stock ones back in to see if it makes a difference. Honestly shocked that is didn't spank me now. I barley had enough for him.

What did the entire slip look like? Are you losing power up top or is it something down low?
