^ Well keep in mind, a 5.0 Cobra is basically a mild H/C/I car compared to the same year GT's.. Still not fast in stock trim by any meas, but they are leaps and bounds ahead of GT's especially when effective bolt ons are involved.

True, stock for stock they aren't close. Throw full exhaust and gears in a Cobra and it will wake up.. GT-40 heads, GT-40 intake and a slightly different cam than the H.O 5.0's help make about 250 crank HP in stock trim. I wouldn't bet money on the OP but it should be close, especially in the 1/8th.. Edit: if he has full exhaust.

A little late to the game, but...I like the Cobra's mod potential over the S197, but yea the old Cobra doesn't stand a snowball's chance. There's a solid .8 tenths to a second between those cars at least.

Well good to know your guy's opinions! I am a more experienced driver then he is and his 08 gt just has flows aside from that STOCK! I have shorties/ o/r xpipe and slp mufflers. 3.73 gears good clutch and I consider myself a pretty good driver! But some of you make it sound like im running a turd vs a jet.... seriously?

Well good to know your guy's opinions! I am a more experienced driver then he is and his 08 gt just has flows aside from that STOCK! I have shorties/ o/r xpipe and slp mufflers. 3.73 gears good clutch and I consider myself a pretty good driver! But some of you make it sound like im running a turd vs a jet.... seriously?
