And I thought it was simply holding down the transbrake button. Stalling the car up and letting go of the transbrake.

No no no........ You guys are all wrong.

The correct way is to SLOWLY ride the clutch up to the line. Once both staged lights are lit, plant your right foot to the floor. Ignore the sounds your motor is making as its just getting warmed up. On the last yellow, close your eyes and dump the clutch. When you regain consciousness, hit second, then open your eyes and row the gears to a new PB. Guaranteed to work................maybe more than once.
