Just curious...what was the fix for the 99 Cobra to boost the power and when buying used how would you know it was done. Was it a TSB?

Maybe this summer I can scrape together some MT's and a dry kit. That's all an LS1 needs.
Say bye-bye to your 10-bolt after a few good hooks...maybe even one depending on the condition it's in
It depends on if you spray off the line or not. A lot of guys wait until after the 60 ft to spray. It costs some ET but saves the weak-*** 10-bolt.

When mine was auto, I'd roll into it off the line from about a 2k start. I have a WOT switch, so the nitrous doesn't spray til WOT. I never had an issue with my rearend and constantly went 1.6-1.7 short times. Once I got the t-56, BOOM!

LS1 would win. Some of the factory freaks are low 13's... yours is probably a mid 13's on a great run, high 13's all day.

Not to many cobra's have hit mid 13's stock....Most are high 13's low 14's very similar times to the GT's. The Cobra's have trapped considerably higher but that IRS creates way too much wheel hop to come anywhere close to beating an LS1......

lets see, re-routed serpentine belt, replaced intake manifold, different cat-back, and an ECU adjustment/tweak.
call ford with the VIN to verify. do not ask the previous owner(s).

used to have a 99 cobra, they do run the same time as an 01 cobra after the "fix". mid to high 13s and they trap 102-104 which is considerably higher than the GTs.

Ok so the 99'. 01' Cobra is a mid to high 13's car with (following the fix) 320 hp, whereas the Mach 1 is a mid to low 13 second carwith 305 hp and the same amount of torque, I think. Does the IRS really hinder the Cobra's performance that much or is it something else holding the car back?

2 things. The IRS blows, and the Mach comes with 3.55's. I'm pretty sure the 99/01 came with 3.27's.

And Steeda3, thats why I said on a great run a 99 might hit mid 13's.. its not gonna happen very often, but its not a once in a lifetime thing either. Just dont expect mid 13's untill you REALLY know the car.. I wouldnt even expect 13's at first... they are just harder then hell to launch untill you get used to it.

I would still really like an '01 Cobra though, haha. The '03/'04 Mach 1s are insanely fast. I've seen a few vids posted on here of Mach 1s with DR and exhaust running mid 12s. Crazyness.

The LS1 will win.

I'm kind of torn about what I want for my next car. It will either be an 03-04 Cobra or a Mach 1. I know the Cobras are considerably faster, but there's something about the Mach that I love. I think I'm just drawn to the shaker and the fact that they were limited to only 2 years. I wonder of Ford added the Supercharger to the Cobra in 03 so that it would be faster than the Mach?

I'll probably just go with a Mach 1 and get side exhaust.

And a lot of insurance companies don't differentiate between Gts and Machs. You're still paying GT prices but it's still like sticking it to the man a little bit
