That's what I was looking to hear.

Thanks! The joy of having an external microphone on the camera. That was just a run up to 3k RPMs, so I'll get a full blast one tomorrow.

I checked over the sphericals before the install and they looked spotless/shiny. I don't know how they could be worn out.

I had success replicating the noise more from up and down pushing, but I'll get both directions on video tomorrow (Hopefully with more light and with the camera/mic pointed at the spherical ends.

You'll likely only peg the VU and mic won't pick it up, but give it a try. Just please MAKE SURE you are in a VERY well open area in the middle of nowhere and NOT in a residential or populated area.

Jazzer, this is my typical "mess around" spot, the benefits of living near a huge swamp:

Or I could just put it in neutral and rev it in the parking lot

A couple other questions, mostly related to weight savings:

What are these two black objects for? One feels like a big rubber block, maybe for sound dampening? Can I remove either?

Quad shocks can now be removed because of the new LCAs? (I'm assuming yes from the suspension sticky)

Is there any harm removing the big weight attached to the bottom of the axle housing?

The "Dogbone" is a vibration dampner and can safely be removed without harm in any way. May hear a bit more noise out back, but will be fine.

yes... yank the quads!

I like your "mess around" spot, as way too many use common streets instead.

Yea, I'd rather not have to deal with the cops when I do stuff like this:

Any idea about the two black boxes in post #14?

Woah. Now I'm stumped. The knocking with the side to side motion from :10 on eliminates the sphericals as the culprit, in my opinion.

Does it still have the stock UCAs?

About the black boxes... there was a weight reduction thread on modulardepot.com about ten years ago... I believe they were listed there, but I don't remember the details.

I'm with you on this, something is not quite right.
Either 2 parts are interfering or something is loose. Sphericals do not make noise when new.

Maybe you could replicate the video with the camera pointing at different components? And different directions? It might take a few tries, but you should be able to find the culprit.

Good luck.

I agree with Old and what I was gonna say. My first thought, was that something is loose. Just get it up on a set of blocks and climb under there with a buddy moving it just like you are in the vid. Use a stethoscope or hollow tube up against different parts to isolate the location of noise.

You will find it, as it will not be mistakeable.
