Default getting an 86 svo into the 13s zone.

What are the basic modifications for getting a stock 86 svo into the 13 sec. zone? I want it to be able to hold its own but remain somewhat reliable. I feel 13s would be just right. I am extremely new to the turbo world but not the mustang world, sorry if I seem ignorant with the turbo stuff. Any tips or help would be appreciated. thanks.

haha. It can't be that simple! How reliable is the 2.3 stock block? What should my main concern be with turning up the boost? What is a "safe" PSI, with a decent spark timing set?

The block is fine into the 13's.

I'd say a Walbro 255 pump, nice intercooler, AFPR, turn up the boost and some sticky tires and you should be close to the 13's.

The stock long block has gone 10's... Stock pistons, rods, crank, unported head.

Check out stinger-performance.com and look at project bolt on.

A "safe" psi for these engines is 17-18psi before they start to lean out, but people push over 20psi without to many problems.

If you want you can run huge numbers with a AFPR, 255 lph walbro fuel pump, and some bigger injectors.

I'm running 14* timing, 8psi and its fast, but when my wastegate line popped off and I hit 28psi, the car was an ANIMAL! no traction what so ever in 3rd or 4th.

The only weak link in these engines is the rods which are good till about 350-400 hp, and the cylinder head likes to crack if it over heats to much.

the rods are the weak link.. they will bail under power taking the block with it.. the 2.3 liter is stronger than a production 5.0 liter..

That won't happen until about 400hp. The stock engine is more than capable of 13's
