my problem is that during wot around 3800rpm i am having a bog condition under boost. it seems i am flooding out. smell of fuel fills exhaust, and i cannot exceed 8psi.
ive had the project for over 18months and just now started playing w it again. i had a failed bpv spring and it was dumping but after my filter was blown off the vam i fixed that and now this issue has occured.
Has anyone had a similar issue? i am still unsure what may be happening here. spool is fast, starting around 2600rpm to about 5psi then around 3600 it bogs after pushing up to 10psi then falls to 8. i was thinking possible wastegate issues(internally gated) i installed my manual bc again but have yet had time to take her out.
are there any other ideas?

OK here is a thought after the VAM the hose that goes to the turbo does it have a spring in it? What may be happening is the hose is collapsing causing no air and it to fall on its face meaning the fuel doesn't burn giving you that smell. This usually happens around 8-10psi.
its not stock. its 3ply silicone couplers. but thank you. its something simple im betting. i just havent seen it yet. the coupler merely acts as a spacer between vam and compressor housing. its only like 10" long and thats bc my bpv dumps there.
You could be blowing spark out. These engines like gaps on the plugs around .030-.032 and good plugs (NKG TR5's or a ford stock replacement) It could also be due to a boost leak

The Flapper in the vam may be moving when you drive if you have a hard pipe that's why the original one was there that could be causing the ECU to read wrong.
the issue is only during wot/full boost. i can floor it and it is fine thru turbo lag all the way to 8psi range around 3600-3800rpm.
vam passes a sweep test too. tps reads .98v ford says .9 - 1.0v is in range. set my afpr to 42psi no vac. its something to do with the boost. i took it for a spin earlier but couldnt get any running ground to wot to 6500(rev is raised to 6800). i got one good stab in to roughly 4k and it did ok. but i didnt see how much psi. i have the mbc hooked up again. will have to see some other time.
i still think it was a wastegate issue. also i noticed that if i shift w any throttle i have lean out issues bc bpv forces vam shut and eec goes nuts. time to block the return and turn it into a bov i think.
group pole:do i face it up into the hood to give it a nice loud nasty sound to piss off honda kiddies? lol. it sits about 2" beneath the hood so it may not clear.
much rather have a flood situation than a lean out during power shift. i will have to try it and report back.
i may take a few phone pics of before and after if it works just for sleeper. and guys its whats on the inside that counts-i like my car looking like a beater!
