Default Boost Control

If I install a manual boost control how do I know where to set it. Is there a standard base setting, for a stock 85svo. How many turn? What do I look for, befor I make adjustment? Sry, first turbo car. Thank you so much!

Stinger also sells a manual boost controller, although you can buy those just about anywhere. You would be safest by threading it as far out as it will go (decreasing boost) and then thread it back in a little at a time and take the car for a drive to see where it is at. Once you start to hear the detonation, back it off 1-2 psi for safety.

Since your car is mostly stock, you should probably limit yourself to approximately 18 psi on premium gas, but that is a rough number that varies from car to car. Something else to note is that the stock SVO boost gauge us not known for its accuracy, so if you want to know exactly how much you are running you should probably look into an aftermarket gauge of some sort. This is not necessary though, so long as you make sure you aren't detonating.

You should also look into disconnecting the knock sensor to potentially add some more power, but be sure to do your research and know what you are doing first so you don't take out a headgasket.

ASSuming you put decent gas in it and everything else is in good shape you shouldn't. But as I said, be cautious about it and turn it up a bit at a time to be safe. I have been running 20 psi for several years now with no headgasket or other issues.
