86 SVO Newbie question
Well, first time posting on this website, or any for that matter (Excluding jeep sites, because those are constantly broken).
I purchased my 86 SVO nearly 3 years ago, as a toy/weekend driver. About a year ago, I decided to rebuild my turbo, as it was beginning to burn quite a lot of oil. I sent it out to be rebuilt, and got it back. After re-installing it, along with my now ported headers, and doing a basic tuneup (plugs, wires, seals, filters, etc.), I am having an issue pushing large boost. It seems to run fine until around 10 PSI then cuts out, and averages around 4-6. The rebuilder of my turbo said that this happened on both of his SVO's, and that he removed the knock sensor, which fixed his problem for him.
I have done a good bit of research, and cannot figure out the best method to solve this issue. Some say to tune the knock sensor, others say to remove it. Everything seems to be correct, and there is no reason the knock sensor should be affected, aside from maybe the added boost (Im anticipating between 18-20 PSI at full rev)
My question to all of you fine ladies and gentlemen, is this: where is the knock sensor located (a picture would be outstanding), and what is the most advisable method of dealing with this issue?
