I just wanted to get a few of your opinions on these two vehicles. My Mother owns both cars and she wants to sell one of the two to me for a very reasonable price for either one.

The 02 Saleen S-281 #288 is Lazer Red with a black top with about 7K on it and it has the tire wheel and brake upgrades along with the richaro leather seats.

The 03 Ford lightningis red withlow miles with13k on it both cars are stock no mods.

I just dont know which one id rather have i like them both about the same. I just wanted a few of you guys input and opinions and what you'd do if you had a choice and why... I attached pics of the two cars so you can seethem Thankx for the help

Its a S-281 Supercharged I forgot to add that since I was thinking of the lightning which id assume everyone knows those are supercharged i just forgot to type that the saleen was supercharged I mean i know the car and truck both since prob half the miles on them are from me lol But i just kinda wasnt sure with modding cuz she might sell me one or the other for around 20k or less if shes feeling nice but i know she bought the saleen new for like 58k and the lightning new was like 34k but if you guys would like to post what you think one or the others worth that would be nice too

Think of it this way... horsepower numbers are around the same.. both craps 2v's... but the lightning is a 5.4 at least... it's also a bit heavier. The lightnings transmission will hold a bit better vs the crap TR 3650

I might be the lone guy saying it, but i'd take the Lightning... It's a bit slower.. but you really can't modify the Saleen - it's close to being maxed out as it is... Besides, it is always handy to ahve the truck... and it's SVT powered by Ford, not an aftermarket kit on a bare bones GT...

I respect the opinion, but I have to disagree with this one on a couple counts:

Horsepower is about the same, 365 for saleen and 380 for lightning, but the weight difference is huge. 4650 for the lightning and 3650 formy Saleen convertible. 1,000 lbs right there. Add that to the fact that mine is a convertible and I have a lot of heavy stereo equipment in the back and we're talking a weight savings of around 1500lbs.

The 2002 saleen can still be modified. You can throw on a smaller pulley, tune it, and throw in a chicane intercooler to boost your rwhp up by about 70-80. At that point you'll be pushing around 380rwhp. You can also forge the internals and throw on adifferent supercharger (series II roots supercharger is on the saleen.....it's not bad, but can't compete with some of the newer S/C's out there). Will the saleen compete with a modified terminator cobra? no. Will it dust a lightning? Absolutely.

Unless you need the hauling capacity of a pickup....I'd go with the saleen.

The shop I get my car tuned at does mustangs and lightnings exclusively.

lighting imo. you got the cabilities of the truck and the 5.4. i think you can do more to the truck than the saleen. i love saleens but agree that you can get much more out the truck.
