Hey my 2001 Cobra with 56k miles is making a chirping noise at idle. If I barely touch the clutch it goes away. It sounds like a slipping belt but I was curious why the clutch would matter? Anything else I should think about?
Also how long does a clutch typical last in a Cobra like mine? Am I getting close to replacement time? How can you tell?

sounds like your throw out bearing is about to check out! i dont really think you can gauge how long a clutch will due to the fact everyone drives different,if you go to the track alot, or if you ride to pedal alot or cant really drive a manual.
is there anything else it could possibly be? I ask this because I just recently had my transmission rebuilt and a new ram hdx clutch put in, and I'm haveing this same problem. Could it just be loose or need to be fitted differently or is it for sure going bad?
I m getting the same like thing with my 03 cobra with only 13,000 miles on it. Started when I put a different pullley on the blower and was told it was the belt and not to worry. I don't beat the car at all so if its a transmission thing then I ll be pretty pissed. Drives fine though and never had any problems.

My whole reason for getting the clutch replaced was due to the noise your explaining. I put my car on ramps along with jack stands for double safety, put the car in nuetral, emergency brake for additional safety, started the car, remove the inspection cover on the tranny and sure enough found my chirping bird. I was almost positive it was that but wanted to see it for myself. If you do ge the clutch replaced or even just the throwout bearing (you should do it all at the same time if the tranny has to be removed) make sure it's installed right. I am going through a nighmare right now with a repair shop that has F'd mine all up. Due to improperly installing the throwout bearing it has chewed the fingers up on the pressure plate. This was a "all parts new" install. They also said they didn't need to do anything to the flywheel. It was ok. Try going back to RAM or any other clutch manufacture for warranty issues and tell them you didn't get the flywheel done. Waste of time.
On the clutch fork there are 2 retainer fingers that have to be on the inside of throwout bearing sleeve not outside like mine are right now. This causes the clutch pedal to rattle real bad and has already worn out my bearing.
