Hey guys. I have developed some gear moan from the rear diff with about 36k miles on the car. So, I picked up Mobil 1 75w140 and 4oz of limited slip additive today, and will be doing the swap in the morning. My goal is to try and suck the fluid out of the fill hole, without removing the diff cover. I have never looked at the diff up close yet, so I hope this is possible. I just want this to be a smooth project. Any tips or pointers? Thanks!

Wow! No drain hole in our rear ends? I know I would be tempted to drill and tap a 1/4 npt hole. If you put grease on the drill and tap "most" of the metal shavings can be recovered.

Hmm. Well, I really don't wanna take of the cover. I bought some RTV in case I HAVE to. Well. I guess I am just going to jump in blind and feel my way around (like a blind man in an orgy).

Umm, yea. I will pay the $80 to have Ford do this. No thanks.
