Default looked at a 97 cobra

well lastnight i went to look at a 97 cobra im hoping to buy.

its pacific green with 110k miles, pretty much stock except flowmaster exhaust, offroad h pipe and lowering springs.

the car was very clean in and out and looked well taken care of, reved smooth and sounded great. i didnt get to open it up very much though.
on the highway i floored it in 3rd and only got up to 5k rpms before i had to let off.
up to 5k rpms it wasnt that impressive but i was in 3rd gear and cobras make there power higher in the rpms correct?

the clutch was different from what im used to,it it grabed higher in the pedal than my clutch and when it did grab you could feel it,shifted through the gears nicely.

it didnt make any noises and seemed tight, the guy said he changed the oil in it every 3k doesnt burn oil and he runs 93 octane in it.
has new tires and the wires looks pretty new as well. the guy was very nice and well mannered.

from my description does it sound like a good buy? thanks

it didnt have a cobra airbag on the driver side and the hood looked like it was hit once(you could see cracks in the fiberglass underneath.

i didnt know if the 97s had cobra on the airbag or not and besides the hood i couldnt see anything else that made it look like it was wrecked.

guys selling it for 5k. if it was wrecked its not a big deal id rather it be a clean title if it was wrecked though. my car was wrecked when i bought it and my dad fixed it.

nothing else in the front end looked bad and it seemed to drive straight.

to make sure its a real cobra put the vin number into carfax and without paying itll tell u if it was a cobra. but for 5k a cobra with 110k miles and possibly damaged doesnt sound like a good deal at all to me. my 96 had 15k miles on it, is in great condition, and only cost me 7k

cheapest one i found in my area and its really clean and nice looking except for it being hit at one point. i cant complain about anything except for it being hit once aslong as it isnt an r title.

i cant really afford much more than 5k.

im sure its a real cobra it has all the cobra badges, brakes, front rear bumper, white face gauges,4.6 dohc cobra motor.

That sounds like a pretty good deal for a Cobra. 110k is not a lot of miles on a well taken care of 4V. If I was in the market it sounds like one I would jump on
And yes the Cobra's like the higher R's. Maybe ask the seller if he deleted the IMRC's and if he did ask if he compensated for loss of low end torque buy doing gears

+1, just put the vin# into carfax. Like stated i will tell you in the free version. It is just extra insurance that it is a real cobra. But goodluck buying it, hopefullit it is and you get it. When you do post pics!

i dont think he did any of the mods himself so i dont think he would know and they felt like the stock gears to me.

thanks. when i get it ill def post pics. i emailed the guy and asked him the deal about it being wrecked and if its a clean title. he said there wernt any leans against the title when i went to look at it so i belive that would mean its a clean title?

overall its a real nice car and the guy seems like a great guy so im hoping to buy it. ive wanted a cobra for awhile and 5k is deffinatly a good price since i can probably sell my car for close to that.
