Can I cut my springs???
I want to lower my 99 Cobra about an inch. Maybe a little more. Can I just remove a coil on the stock springs? All I see in spring kits is an aggressive lower, like 2 inches and I saw a review on the H&R springs where it advertised 1.5 and it dropped it 2+. Has anyone cut theirs before? Also, does anyone have a set of stock coupe springs for sale?

I cut mine 3/4 of a turn on front and back. Just right IMO. I know the 03/04 cobras have linear rate springs so cutting them does not change the ride quality or spring rate.
I'm not sure about the 99/01 cobras. If you have progressive rate springs I would not cut them. Some do this anyway but it changes the spring rate and you get poor ride quality and wear out your shocks and struts quickly.

You can cut springs. I have 2/3 of a turn cut off the H&R Race springs on the front of my car. There are springs out there that will only drop your car less, like 3/4" - 1 1/4". Do some more research and you will find them. I strongly suggest upgrading your shocks/struts as well though. You will get a higher spring rate with a cut spring and the travel will be reduced before you hit the bump stops. Controlling the motion is critical to how well it will ride and handle.
GOOD LUCK!

Thanks Timspony! I've done all the searching you can imagine for springs and I've found that guys are saying the springs that advertise 1.5 inches end up lowering 2 inches anyway. I'm not a big fan of super low. I'm also trying to avoid a drastic alignment and castor/camber plates. I'm going with 18X9 and 18X10 GT4s with 295s on the back so with an inch of drop I think that would look fine. The thing I can't find out anywhere is if the stock springs on my 99 are progressive or linear. I may just cut them and see how it rides. If I buy a set of springs I'd be getting rid of my stock springs anyway so why not experiment ya know? Probably gonna go 3/4 all the way around and see how it looks.

Edit: my bad. you are right about the 470 rate on the 2001! I was thinking it was solid axle.
