Default IMRC Cable snapped today..... :(

I started my car this morning and got a check engine light come on. Had it checked at the nearest Autozone and found out it was for IMRC Valve stuck open....

So i did a few hours of research and found out I can check whats going on by testing the IMRC's ability to open and close freely with my hands on the back side of the engine next to the firewall. Did that. The passenger side opens and closes freely with no cable slack. The driver side however.....I could have pulled the cable out from the IMRC controller box with no effort at all. Sigh.

With this problem looming....does anyone have a fully functional IMRC control box with cables available? Last I heard Ford doesnt make anything like this anymore, but im going to call a few dealers in Charlotte today and see what they can do.

Final question. Besides doing the IMRC deletes....can I cheat my way through this by getting a newer cobra intake? I understand that the new cobras do not have IMRCs and the intake might be a bolt on upgrade for my 97. Or would this require a complete head swap? Thanks for the help.

Update: I actually found a Controller on Ebay today...seems fairly legit. But its better than what I have now. :/ Do you guys think I should buy the composite IMRCs from a 98 Cobra/98 Lincoln to go with my new controller? And finally....would the controller from the Lincoln bolt up to my 97 cobra??

I believe that the lincoln one will work, they look to be the same.

Can always look into deleting them.

+1 on deleting them. That would probably be your cheapest route if you can do it yourself. If you want to keep them I would just clean the ones you already have.Be careful with all the gaskets I think they're reusable. They used to be hard to find new,not sure if they are easier to get now.

I want to keep them. I do not want to do a FI build just yet on a 130K motor. I found new intake upper and lower gasket sets from Rock Auto. They werent that hard to find. I plan on going through the IMRCs this coming week. I bought a new IMRC controller on Ebay for $70. Got really lucky with that one. So hopefully all goes well when my package comes in next Tuesday.

What do you mean about not wanting to an FI build just yet.You can delete them and stay NA.When you delete them you just pull the rods and butterflies out and weld the small holes shut where the rod went thru. Then reinstall the plates so all the intake valves get air all the time.

Most people do the delete and get LT Headers and Supercharger/Turbo to get the torque back and make more power. I want my torque, and even want to build on it.

The deletes give up low end torque to gain a little top end power. I want to keep my torque since my car is my DD and not a full blown racer.
