2001 Cobra vs 2007 GT/CS
Hey guys, so i have the opportunity to get either a cheap terminator (probably not gonna happen because most in my price range are high mileage or dogged) or possibly this 2001 cobra. I love my car, but the 2001 cobra is priced $8k below its KBB value of $21k (which is higher than my car's KBB value).

The 2001 Cobra is in perfect shape from what i can tell, it has 24,000 miles on it and is a 5 Speed
My car has 76K miles on it, has a bit of road rash on the front end of it from the first owner, and is automatic
I figure i can get atleast $15k for mine if not more and talk this guy down to atleast $12.5k if not $12K.
My question is, what would you guys recommend me doing.
I look at it like this:
I like the styling on both of them equally
I could pocket money to buy a more valuable car
it has less miles
it is in better condition
it is a 5 speed
and i know 4v>3v>2v
if i was to get the 01 cobra i would definitely do lowering, exhaust, and window tint, possibly some anthracite fr500s, and maybe a Short Throw.

In simple terms of power, the 01 Cobra is comparable to your 07 GT, so there's no real reason there to trade, though as you say its 4-valve engine is perhaps a bit better than the 3-valve, perhaps easier to get more power out of it... And there's something special about having that little snake on the fender. I can't imagine it would show as worth $21k on KBB however. Even the $13k sounds like it's on the high end of reasonable. But on the other hand, the New Edge body style is getting old, and let's face it there's still a LOT of em out there. So you might just be another old Mustang to the ignorant masses, though being a Cobra would help with the car/Mustang crowd that knows better...
So I dunno. I'd say it just depends on your tastes. Many people also find the New Edge interior to be dated and unimpressive. I'd probably go for the 01 Cobra, and of course for the Terminator if it were a realistic option. And the manual vs automatic is a bit of a younger man's dilemma. But if you have a preference for a manual, then that's certainly another check for the Cobra. I have owned both an 01 and an 04, and never driven any newer model, so I may be biased on them and not able to really compare them...

When I test drove an 07 and an 13, they both seemed so much larger and heavier than the earlier Mustangs. I know the books say they weigh about the same as an 04 Cobra, but it sure didn't drive the same. Schmalgar, I like your Cobra, looks identical to mine!

Didn't you start a 2004 Mach 1 vs. 2007 GT/CS thread?
Let me save you some future posting:
Your 2007 GT/CS vs. any older, worn out piece of **** that's worth less than the GT/CS: NO.
It's plainly obvious you want something different and are only able to pay less than the value of your 2007. You can't afford to fix something older and cheaper.

Sounds like it comes down to "what do you REALLY want"...and "why"? If you answer those questions for yourself, you'll make the right decision.
If you really want a 200-2004 Terminator and settle for a 2001 Cobra, are you truly gonna be happy?...or is it just settling for something other than your GT/CS? If you just settle, you'll regret it. I promise!
